Not Well

Folks, I'm going to be absent for a few days from this blog.  I'm very sick.

It is painful for my leg to sit at this computer, I cannot get in a good position.  And now I have a horrific cold.

Yesterday I slept the whole day in my bed, only getting up for a light lunch and dinner.  The last two nights I've been to bed at 7:30 PM to 8 PM.

The only relief I get from the pain in my leg (which isn't a great pain but still very uncomfortable) is when I am lying horizontal in my bed, so that's where I'll spend most of  my day today also.

Monday I had an MRI taken to access the damage to the ligaments of my leg.  I didn't hear anything back from my doctor's office so I called.  My doctor was out of the office this week, so they had another doctor look at the MRI.  They didn't tell me anything but do want to see me next Tuesday instead of the following week.

I still can't lift my bottom left leg but I can wiggle my toes.  This cold isn't helping things out one bit.  In fact I am miserable.

Sorry to dump all this on you, my blog readers but I'm just telling you how it is.

Hopefully, someday soon I'll be back to normal.  But in the meantime, I'm just getting through one day at a time.

Now if you'll excuse me I have some bills to pay.

    1. Than you Jon. Slowly recovering. Today was a little better with the cold. Still have it but at least I wasn't in bed all day. Can't wait until I'm all back to normal and full steam ahead.

It seems as if each winter gets tougher the older I get. I'm glad I had a chance for a ten day respite in Los Angeles. Now to just get through the next month then spring!

  4. You've had quite the month; the whirlwind West Coast tour and the fall. Maybe the universe is just saying, "Siddown for a second."
    Feel better. Relax. Hot soup.

  5. Hoping for a speedy recovery from the cold so you can deal easier with the leg. Good thing the fall did not happen before the trip to California!

    1. Tony,
Tell me about it. Whenever something bad like this happens my first thought is "it could have been worse" and it could have been. When I fell down on the dance floor at Oil Can Harry's, I could have thrown my knee out. Now wouldn't that have been a predicament? I can just see me on the five hour plane flight back with my stiff leg. There was hardly enough leg room even when I could bend my leg.

Keeping my leg up and resting is the best way out of this situation. I just didn't need this cold too but that is dissipating, thank goodness.

Me too! I am so glad this didn't happen before my trip to LA. Those tickets were not refundable. Next year I'll have to be VERY careful.

I used to think eating chicken soup for a oold was an old wive's tale but it does work! I had some soup last night and will again tonight Canada Dry ginger ale also help my stomach when it is upset by a cold. That's the only time I drink soda.

I'm getting lots of rest! Today it snowed again. I was so glad I didn't have to go out in that mess. I laid in my bed and binged watched "Judge Judy" all morning. These bad times are coming to an end. Thanks for your good wishes

Hi Ron, Sorry to hear about your fall. Please be careful with those crutches. Sometimes they also cause accidents. Getting old isn't for sissies that's for sure. Take care of your cold, too.

    Best wishes, Fran

I'm so sorry that you're feeling bad! This winter has been "bad" as far as illness and death go for people I care about, not to mention the weather. I still think you should consider a worker's comp claim or other legal avenues. I will be looking forward to your return to the blogosphere. ~~~ NB

This winter has been probably the worst I've ever experienced. Thank goodness I had that brief respite in Los Angeles. I haven't completely ruled out workman's comp. Tuesday, March 3rd, I will know the extent of the damage.

  17. Glad you're feeling better Ron.

If it's any consolation, my back hurts from shoveling snow, and performing many assorted tasks related to dealing with the bitter cold.

And I strained my trapezius muscle, which I re-aggrevated by going back to the gym too soon; this necessated my having to use ice packs on my neck just to be able to fall asleep...great fun when it's zero degrees outside.

    So, misery loves company, right?

    :-)

  18. That just sucks. I hope you get over your cold/flu very soon. Rest will help, of course, as will drinking plenty of healthy fluids. But you know that. I'm sorry you are sick and hurt.
