A personal blog of this 76 year old gay man (ninth generation American) who retired to Delaware from Pennsylvania eleven years ago with his longtime partner/husband of 53 years.
In these parts, (nasty AZ) it is already a us vs. them arena. No bonding; no unity; only inflammatory our side vs. your side.
This is all too sad.
Ron,Such a sweet, trusting face on that little girl & some nut job didn't give a damn for life or limb. I'm tired of all these deranged people taking their agressions out on underserving citizens. As a parent, I feel it would be my duty to my child to get them all the mental health help they need. No parent should let their child be so closed off & not give a damn. Just because the troubled are your children doesn't mean they won't go over the edge & do harm to others. The signs are there! Parents need to wake up & understand that they need to take control of the situation when they know that one of their children over 21 or not needs help. I certainly would not be too proud to do this for one of mine if the situation warranted it. After you have done all you can then at least the guilt would not eat you up alive. I just could not stand by & not do my best to possibly avoid this situation. If it happened after that then at least you would know you tried.God bless all the families that have been hurt by this situation.Fran
I feel as you do Fran. The problem is the way this country addresses its mental health problem and gun control. The political rhetoric only enables senseless acts of violence like this. Shame on our country for letting this happen.
Spo,Very sad. We should be able to disagree without demonizing the other. Many of my friends and I have different political views (including most of my family) but we all get together. I have encountered a few people though who scare me. I stay away from them.
