Members of Congress who voted to decertify Joe Biden as president in spite of a free and fair election. TRAITORS! COWARDS!

Do you recognize these people? 

They are currently members of Congress (House and Senate) who voted to decertify President Biden's election.

They are all cowards who took an oath to the Constitution and lied. They are more concerned about their own jobs than their professed oath to the Constitution when they took office.

One positive thing I will say about Trump, his bullying and intimidation tactics have exposed the true nature of these Republican politicians.

Shame on them.

Shame on the voters who put them in office.

Shame on our country.

Shame on me because I used to be a Republican.

Hard to believe but way back in 1968 I wrote my college term paper on "The Emerging Republican Majority." This when the Democrats had held power in the House of Representatives for forty years. I never in my lifetime thought the Republicans would take control of the House. But the Republicans have proven "Be careful of what  you wish for."

I changed my voter registration twenty years ago when the George W. Bush administration tried (unsuccessfully) to take away my veteran's health care benefits. A promise was made to me when I joined the Army in 1960 that I had "lifetime healthcare....if I needed it."  In the year 2000, I was jobless and I needed my healthcare. Thank God I had the VA because I had to have several surgeries. If George W. Bush and Karl Rove had their way I would have been on my own. I would have been fucked. However, there was such an outcry that the cowardly Congress at that time backed down and grandfathered me and other veterans like me and I was able to keep my VA health care.

Now the Republicans agenda is to eliminate Social Security and Medicare. 

These cowards are a grave danger to our country.

And they now have a Messiah who they are totally controlled by because they WANT TO KEEP THEIR JOBS. That is their first priority.

THEY ARE ALL COWARDS!

Am I worried about the increasing crime in our cities? Of course I am. 

Is Nancy Pelosi the greatest danger to our country? ARE YOU SERIOUS???????

The greatest danger to our country are these cowards. Look at them and remember them. Generations from now they will teach in our classrooms how these cowards almost caused the ruination of our democracy for their own craven self interests. 

Trump Jails Babies

Several months ago I decided not to post any more of my political rants on this blog. This has been a hard decision for me, especially lately with Trump's decision to separate children from immigrants on our southern border seeking asylum. That's right, immigrants seeking asylum, not people illegally crossing our border. These people are presenting themselves at the border seeking asylum.

Now Trump has decided with his new policy, and don't believe his lies that this is "the Democrat's fault", of using children as pawns to build his fucking wall.  That's right, the wall that he claimed "Mexico is going to pay for", another Trump Lie.  

Trump's ONLY goal is to satisfy his base so he can appear at his "rallies", strut down the runway to the rapturous applause of "I can shoot someone on Fifth Avenue and not lose any supporters" audience. 

Trump is holding these children as hostages. How can anyone be that soulless? 

I can write thousands of words about the venality of Trump but I will keep this short. 

This atrocity has to stop. 

This is not who we are as Americans. 

Trump is making American great again? Each day we sink deeper and deeper into becoming the pariah of the world. 

This breaks my heart. 

I never thought I would say this in my lifetime. I am actually ashamed to be an American today.

The one thing I and we always had in this country was that we were better morally than the rest of the world.  Sure, of course there was and is the underbelly in this country of darkness of the American soul. 

A black men dragged to death behind a pickup truck just because he was black. James Byrd.

A gay man tied up to a fence crucified style, tortured and left to die. Matthew Shepard.

That element will always be in our country. Fortunately it was almost always been held in check. 

No longer. 

Now we have a person as president who actively seeks to divide us. And to shore up his base he appeals to the worst of us.

Last night on during a TV interview, Corey Lewandowski, a former Trump campaign chairman, mocked the Down Syndrome child of a woman who was arrested trying to cross our southern border for asylum. 



This is where we are at now folks. Today I am ashamed to call myself American.

Couldn't Sleep

This morning I awoke up at 4:32 am this morning. Couldn't get back to sleep.  Why? I couldn't sleep after that atrocity yesterday that the Congressional Republicans passed that tax scam bill that pays back their corporate donors, lies about tax cuts for middle America and guts the Affordable Care Act by repealing the individual mandate. What do the Republicans do for our country other than reward the very rich and make life more difficult for the rest of us? they are bought and paid for which they proved yesterday with that obscene White House gathering yesterday praising Dear Leader. 

Of course our fake president (Trump - whose picture I will NEVER offend my readers by posting again on this blog) had an event at the White House yesterday to gloat.

What really sickened me was the sycophants who publicly performed fellatio on Trump during Trumps cabinet meeting yesterday.  I literally gagged when I watched Vice President Mike Pence disgrace himself by seeing how far he could get his tongue up Trump's fat golf cart riding ass.   Does he (Pence) has no self respect? Apparently not. Nor do the other cabinet members. At least they didn't prostate themselves like that last Trump cabinet meeting where Trump had them go around the table giving each one the opportunity to effusively praise him which they did. 

Check out Pence's High Five hand clapping that all the congressional Republicans gleefully obliged Trump yesterday during that gathering yesterday on the White House steps after Trump summoned them to praise him. The last time I saw that kind of sycophant hand clapping was at a Kim Jong-un public event. Those North Korean generals know if they don't High Five Clap and smile ear to ear they won't be at the next Kim Jon-un event. 



Hey folks, do you see what's happening here? Trump is development a cult of personality. We are entering dangerous territory.  For the first time in my life I fear for our country. And that is because of those Republican enablers who praise Trump effusively even though they know he is the most incompetent and offensive president that this country has ever had.

"Exquisite?" Really Paul Ryan?  We all know that you're celebrating your orgasmic victory of "tax reform" after years of working for it. Now you can finally get rid of that hard on you've been carrying for twenty plus year.  Oh wait, you've already said next year you're going to go after Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. 

You see why I can't sleep folks?  What is happening to our country?

Trump and House Republicans Declare Health Care Victory

Trump and the House Republicans "celebrating" taking healthcare away from 24 millions Americans and taking the fist step to giving 880 billion dollars in tax cuts to the richest Americans.  All white, comfortable and powerful white men. Do you not know anything about images you dumb ass orange monster? "Look at me, I'm president!"

Take a look at this photo folks of all these white men declaring "victory" over repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as "Obama Care."

Yes, all comfortable well off white men of power and influence have just passed a bill that will take health care away from 24 million Americans.  

Of course this isn't law yet.  The Republicans were bussed over to the White House to feed Trump's insatiable ego.  The law they passed has to go through the Senate yet.  And the consensus is that it will never pass the Senate in its present form.

So what are all these comfortable, well off and powerful white men celebrating?  The fact that they could get ANYTHING out of the House of Representatives.  Did they actually read the bill? Very doubtful.  Does Trump actually know what's in the bill?  Highly doubtful.  It is a well known fact that Trump is too lazy to read.  Short attention span.

So here we go folks, the Republicans are now busy trying to pass more BIG LIES to the American public like those with pre-existing conditions will not be affected by this bill. So why pass another bill?  Just to get rid of the name Obamacare?  Certainly. 

So here is the TRUTH folks, this is the first step of a massive transfer of wealth from poor and middle class Americans to the very wealthy.  Eight-hundred and eighty-billion in tax cuts mainly benefiting the rich over the next ten years defunding Medicaid. Older folks will pay up to five times the price of their premiums that they pay now. And those with pre-existing conditions WILL lose.  People will die just so the rich can have more tax cuts, that they clearly don't need.

Two of the biggest monsters and liars in public life today - Paul Ryan is about to realize his lifetime dream of destroying the safety net of Medicare and Social Security.  One is clueless and the other knows exactly what he is doing - using the clueless one to advance his agenda.

So much for Trump's promise during his campaign that he would not touch Medicaid. But of course by now we all know that Trump is a pathological liar.  Even his most fervent supporters will admit that fact now.  

We are living in dark times folks. This is a test for our democracy.

Trump Presidency Is Unraveling

Every day I watch the further unraveling of the Trump presidency. 

I remember clearly when the Nixon presidency unraveled. 

I voted for Nixon. Twice I voted for him. That was a time in my life when I was a conservative Republican who believed in fiscal responsibility and conservative values.  

I believed Nixon that he didn't know about the "plumbers" that broke into the Democratic headquarters. 

The year was 1974 and I was summer vacationing in Provincetown, Massachusetts. That was 43 years ago.  

When Nixon was found to be lying (because he secretly tape recorded White House conversations) and was forced to resign rather than face impeachment and prison, I couldn't believe it. I was shocked.

Never again in my lifetime did I think I would witness a president who resigned from office in disgrace.

Well folks, that time has come again.  

Donald Trump hasn't even finished one hundred days in office and already his presidency is meshed in numerous scandals. But the worst scandal is slowly coming out.  And that scandal is that he and his campaign has colluded with Russia to affect the presidential election.  Of that I have no doubt.

Yesterday, the odious General Flynn has requested immunity because he has "a story to tell."  I bet he does. General Flynn, who infamously led the chant at the Republican Convention to lock up Hillary Clinton, now fears jail for himself. He should fear jail. He belongs in jail because I believe he worked for Russia. Of that I have no doubt. 

So what do I expect to happen?  I think we will be witnessing history again. Trump will resign.  Pence will resign because he knew Flynn was lying.  I think the election will be declared null and void. I think a new election will be held. History will be made.

This story is long from over. Of course the die hard Trump supporters, the ones who would support him even if he shoots someone on Fifth Avenue, will be outraged. So what?  Who cares?  I don't.  I've had it with the diehard Trump poorly educated supporters.  They will never be satisfied.  

The United States has to regain respect in the world and it's never going to happen as long as Donald Trump and his incompetent minions are in power. 

Getting Back Up To Speed

Taken just a few moments ago.  The remnants of my fall last week.  All the scabs are almost gone!

Just a short post to let my regular followers know I'm almost healed form my fall last week.  My last big scab (the one over my nose where my new glasses dug in when I fell) came off yesterday while I was sleeping.  I discovered it when I was washing my sheets. Ugh.

Now to get back up to speed.  I'm so far behind in my blog readings.  I'm also behind in my blog postings.

This past week was taken up by trying to get Bill's medication prior to his cataract surgery on December 5th.  We're getting his medication through the VA Choice program. It's a nice program to help vets who are more than forty miles away from the nearest VA facility (we're ninety miles away) but man oh man, the hoops you have to jump through to get anything done.  This isn't Medicare. 

If I'm up to it, I'll write about the Catch-22 situation we were in just trying to get his eye drops.  We spent a whole day at the Dover Air Force Base and all I accomplished was losing my Medicare Supplement insurance card.  Not to worry, they found it and are sending it back to me.  But that whole day was an absurdity of run arounds. I'm already starting to bore myself just writing about it so I'll spare you any more of the frustration and anger that I had to go through to get a simple prescription.

The weather around here has been fantastic, that's the good news.  The bad news is that Donald Trump is really our president for the next four years.  This whole situation seems like a nightmare to me, from which I can't wake up.  But you know folks, I can always find the good in even the worst situation.  At least I think I can.  Here's the "good" in this Trump Situation,  we won't have to hear about Hillary's dammed e-mails anymore.  And all that Hillary bashing, which you know would go on for four years if she was elected.  

The Republicans are in control now.  The ball is in their court.  Let's see what they can do.  I just hope (and I would pray if I was religious) that they don't destroy the country in their quest to completely eliminated taxes for their rich friends and in the process, eliminate the social safety net for millions of Americans. 

I keep telling myself "Ron, don't write anymore about politics" but folks, I am very concerned with where our country is going.  

I fear we are headed into dangerous waters.

Donald Trump Suggests Assassinating Hillary Clinton

There is no other way to say it folks, when the Republican candidate for the president of the United States said yesterday:

“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish the Second Amendment,” Trump said to boos from the crowd.

“By the way, if she gets to pick her judges, nothing you can do folks,” he then added.

“Though the Second Amendment people, maybe there is, I don't know.”

Donald Trump suggested that those "Second Amendment" people should assassinate Hillary Clinton should she be elected president and appoint Supreme Court Justices. 

Donald Trump has disqualified himself as the Republican nominee for president of the United States of America.  

This isn't about Hillary or the Democrats. This is about a man who has proven himself again and again to have the temperament to hold the most powerful position of power in the world. 

It is time for the Republican leaders to take steps to remove Donald Trump as their candidate and replace him with a responsible adult.

The time is now. Trump has caused enough damage in this country. God help us if his careless and thoughtless remarks yesterday result in a tragedy.

Many years ago John F. Kennedy wrote a book called "Profiles in Courage."  Per Wikipedia (and I am quoting here):

"The book profiles senators who defied the opinions of their party and constituents and do what they felt was right and suffered severe criticism and losses in (their) popularity because of their actions."

Sadly folks, in light of Donald Trumps recent disparagement of the Kahn's, a Gold Star family, the Republican leadership is demonstrating not profiles in courage but profiles in cowardice. 

The Republican leadership under Senator Mitch McConnell, Senate Majority Leader and Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House, refuses to pull their support of Donald Trump.  By doing so they have demonstrated that their party (the Republicans) is more important than doing what is right, recognizing that Donald Trump is unfit to be president.

Folks, I am really trying to stay away from politics on this blog because I know I'm not going to change anyone's mind who they're going to vote for. But I feel compelled to share this video from the Democratic National Convention. I was fortunate enough to see this speech live and was taken aback by the genuine plea of the parents of a dead soldier who died in Afghanistan, who just happened to be Muslim.  The father makes a powerful statement and asks the Republican nominee for the presidency of the United State a powerful question:  


"Donald Trump, have you ever read the Constitution of the United States?"

Thoughts On Donald J. Trump

As I predicted in one of my blog posts many months ago, Donald J. Trump is the (presumptive) Republican nominee for the presidency of the United States.

At first I liked Donald Trump. I liked the fact that he shook up the political (Republican) establishment.  Many of the things he said were things I thought.  Jeb Bush was "low energy."  Former Texas governor Rick Perry did get glasses so he "looked smarter."  Marco Rubio was "Little Marco" who was robotic.  Dr. Ben Carson was (and is) a whacko.  Yes, I thoroughly enjoyed the Trump putdowns on the Establishment Republican candidates.  Apparently I wasn't alone in my admiration and approval of Trump shaking up the established order.  Trump got more votes in the primaries than any Republican candidate in the history of the United States.

Now I have to wonder if some of those voters are having second thoughts after Trump's pronouncements about the "Mexican judge" who is overseeing the Trump University fraud case.  The judge isn't Mexican.

Then last week, after the horrible mass shooting in Orlando, Florida Trump showed his abysmal ignorance again by railing against the shooter who he said was "born in Afghan."  Actually the shooter was born in Queens, New York, just like Trump.

I think by now it is quite obvious to most level headed people that Trump has a narcissistic personality disorder.  He is a pathological liar.  Even worse, he believe his lies.  

Donald Trump is a con man.  He is a fraud. 

But you know what folks?  People who continue to support Trump know these facts and will continue to support him.  Of course one of the reasons is that they hate Hillary that much (which I don't nor will ever understand). These people would probably vote for Charles Manson before they would vote for Hillary Clinton.  As I said, I don't understand that hate just like I don't understand the hate for President Obama.

However, I think the other reason I think is that those Trump supporters are so disgusted with our present political system that they would vote for any strong personality who challenges that political system.  I understand that feeling because that is the way I feel too.  But folks, would I vote for Trump?  Not on your life and nor should you if you care about our country.

One thing is for sure, the next five months are sure going to be interesting as the Republican leadership twist themselves into knots supporting a candidate that they clearly know is  certifiably insane.

Saturday Rant

Four Rethuglicans who can't wait to destroy this country should they get into power - Evil, evil, evil

Just got off the phone with my insurance company. So frustrating with these automated phone systems.  The good news is that I don't need my landline anymore while waiting for the "Your call is important to us" now wait a half an hour like you have nothing else to do while we try to straighten out OUR mistake in billing you.  

Folks, the main reason I had a landline was for those time I was put on hold.  Which, is as you all know when you call for HELP you're ALWAYS put on hold and hear the message "Your call is important to us" now wait while we f--k you over by wasting your time.  Oh, they have a new thing now, they'll call you back because "We realize your time is important to you and we want you to keep your place in line so we will call you back, just press One."  Uh huh, I press "One" and still get an automated call back and I STILL have to wait.  Then I still had to wait another twenty minutes until I got a live person on the phone.  

"Your call is important to us" Sure! Then why am I kept on HOLD so long?

So frustrating.  Well, at least I got them to back out the mistaken charge they put on my bill.  

Talk about frustration.  Have you all bee following the presidential contest?  First of all, the Republicans.

Check out the photo atop of this blog posting.  What a sorry bunch of liars, phonies, and egotists.  And now Trump has brought us to a new low.  I used to think he was amusing.  Now he just scares the hell out of me.  And as for the rest, really folks, is this the best we can do?

On the Democratic side (and yes I say "Democratic" and not "Democrat" as the evil Rethuglicans like to spout these hate filled days).  Hillary is going to get the nomination.  I don't even listen to any of the DEMOCRATIC coverage.  Nada.  I like Bernie Sanders but seriously folks, you think he can get anything done with Congress as long as it is controlled by the Rethuglicans who want to privatize both Medicare and Social Security so their Wall Street masters can have access to that massive honey pot of money so they can even further engorge enrich themselves at the expense of the middle class?  

Oh I know all about the Hillary Haters (frankly I never go that but who am I to judge as Pope Frances said except when he met with homophone Kim Davis but I digress).  

You know folks, I actually think that the Orange Faced Liar 

should be the Republican nominee.  The White House has to stay in Democratic control to prevent the aforementioned further dismantling of the social safety net.  I have an immediate interest here folks because I DEPEND on Medicare and Social Security for survival.  You want to save Social Security, take the cap off of the earnings limit and so the billionaires like The Reptilian Monster can pay their fair share of taxes.  God knows they have benefited massively from the American system already.  They won't miss those extra dollars so Melania can buy another two hundred pairs of shoes.  Oh yes folks, we have our own Imelda Marco right here in River City.  But I digress.

Trump's Small Hands

Well folks, it looks like Donald J. Trump is well on his way to the Republican nomination.  I'm listening to the results of the Super Tuesday primary as I write this blog.

I could say so much about this impending disaster of Trump getting the Republican nomination and actually getting elected president (wake me up, I MUST be dreaming!), but I'm only going to address one subject in this blog.  Trump's small hands.

I was surprised when Marco Rubio also noticed how small Trumps hands were.  I noticed the same thing during the first Republican debate.  

I just happened to notice his smallness of his hands while Trump was waving them about and pointing his finger while making a point.  I thought "Why, he has doll's hands!"  I thought my TV somehow distorted how small his hands were. But now I know, he DOES have those little "baby" hands.  Man oh man Donald Trump.  

All I can say is I'll repeat what Marco Rubio said:

"You know what they say about a man with small hands . . . . YOU CAN'T TRUST THEM!"

Mark this date on your calendar folks. You intrepid blogger has made this prediction.

I knew Ronald Reagan was going to win too way back in the day when many were dismissing Reagan as "just an actor" and an "airhead."  

For those of you who are still in disbelief and aghast at Donald Trump being a serious candidate, get used to it folks.  He's not going away.

Friday Morning Fulminations

Good morning folks!  How are you on this COLD spring morning.  Yes, another cold one.  Temps down to the low 40's.  

I finished my second shift at the hotel last night.  Business is picking up. We're in the season.  Of course several of the guests are complaining about the cold weather.  I apologize to them and tell them I can only guarantee perfect weather for MY events. 

I did have a pleasant surprise last night.  Old friend (old as me and THAT'S OLD) stopped by to visit two of their former neighbors who were staying at the hotel.  Jack and Judy D.

Judy is (was) my former high school classmate and, along with her husband Jack they were me and Bill's wedding witnesses last July. This is the first time I've seen them since the Big Day. We had a nice visit.  We made plans to go out to lunch next week. 

Now I have a day off before I begin another two day shift at the hotel this weekend.  I'm filling in for a co-worker who is taking off the Easter weekend to visit his brother and his family in Connecticut.  Good old Ron. Hey, I'm taking two weeks off in August so it all works out.

As I mentioned in an earlier blog posting I've been roped into being the local Democratic neighborhood volunteer.  You know, those people who knock on your door at all the wrong times reminding you to VOTE.  I've been given my list of neighborhood names and time frame to go a knocking (which you know I hate, all those opportunities for REJECTION).

This morning, after breakfast at a local restaurant (which was a BIG MISTAKE of which I will talk about later), I had Bill chauffeur me around while I tried to connect my list of addresses with the houses where I'm going to bug these poor defenseless Democrat registered voters.

My script goes something like this:

"Hi. My name is _______________. I'm one of your nearby neighbors in Lewes (Milton for me) and a counter for the local Democratic party. I'm stopping by to let you know that the party is active in this district, and that we're hoping to elect more Democrats in the off-cycle election next November. If you have any questions or concerns in the coming years, please feel free to contact _______ at ________. We'd be happy to pass on your concerns and try to answer any questions you might have. Thanks so much for your time today."

You know I'm loving this.  Actually, I should be more involved with local Democratic politics, I just don't want it taking over my life.  But that is a subject for another blog posting.  

So Bill drove and I looked for addresses that are on my list that I received from the local Democratic leader,  this morning and it was basically a bust.  About a third of the houses don't even have an address.  And I definitely don't want to take a chance and knock on an errant Tea Bagger's door!

CAN.YOU.IMAGINE? Joe the Plumber answers the door.  Hey, I'm not Barrack Obama's biggest fan by far but man oh man, do we really want a return of George W. Bush, Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld or any of the new crazy right wing nuts like Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.  Really folks?

These Tea Baggers are so whacked out with their crazy assed paranoia they scare me to death if they even get close to wielding any kind of power.  Seriously folks, the likes of Louie Gomert for Secretary of the Defense? 

One thing is for sure, if the Tea Bagger Right Wing Nut faction of the Republican Party (is there a "regular" Republican party left after all?) gets in power we'll be in another war with:

1. Syria
2. Iran
3. Egypt
4. Russia

So proud of themselves - they didn't lose anybody in their Wars of Choice

And who knows who the f_ck else these nut cases decide to go to war with to show their manhood. Of course they never personally go to war nor any member of their families, they send the young folks who can't get a job in the economy that was almost ruined by the back to back Bush tax cuts, prescription drug benefits in which the government was not allowed to bargain prices with the drug companies thus creating a windfall for the drug companies. But I digress (which often happens when I blog post because I don't plan these posts out in advance folks, I just let them "flow.") 

So anyway, I wasn't too successful in identifying the homes I'm going to bother this morning so I'll go to Plan B which is Google maps.  It'll take a little longer but at least I'll be at my desk and not trying to dodge traffic while I'm looking for non-existent house signs.  I had this same problem when I worked for the Census Bureau back in 2010, couldn't find about half of the addresses.  What is it with people that they can't do the basic and put their address out in front of their house?  Are they THAT lazy?  Well…..yes.

Folks, about the last thing I want to do is traipse around my neighborhood, bothering my neighbors like I hate to be bothered but if I can do just a little bit to prevent the Far Right Republican politicians from gaining power and totally ruining this country, I will.  Say what you will about the sometimes feckless president Obama and vice president Crazy "Uncle Joe" Biden but at least they're going to preserve the social safety net and prevent the few very rich oligarchs in this country from completely taking over this country for their own greed which knows no bounds.  What always amazes me is how many of the American voters believe the lies that the Republicans tell them to vote against their own interests. I'm on a rant here folks, I better get off.

Time for a little humor folks now that the latest government crises engineered by the stupid assed Rethulicans is over.  Oh, by the sway, that smirking face below belongs to a Texas senator. By the way, could someone explain to me out this Senator, Ted Cruz, who was born in Canada thinks he can run for president of the United States?  Doesn't he read our Constitution?  Quote:

A friend sent me this series of actual, real photos  from rural Texas this morning.  A favorite blogger of mine lives in rural Texas.  There is not a day that goes by that I don't feel so sorry for his plight that he is stuck in this unbelievably parochial slice of Americana.  I'm trying to be nice here folks.  I hope he can bust out of his patch of hell in rural Texas.  

A former president who now lives in rural Texas - no surprise

When my Bill used to work he traveled a lot.  The one area of the country which he hated (and "hate" is a mild word) was Texas.  In fact that was his last assignment.  I rescued him and told him to quit his job and take care of our home.  That was thirty-three years ago.  He took a look at these photos this morning and said "Not much has changed."  Indeed.  So have a few laughs folks but also take time to feel for those folks who are Stuck in Texas.  Now here is a little Jerry Lee Lewis seriously violating a piano.  Have a great day!
