Free Speech Is No More In The United States

The Jimmy Kimmel Show was put on indefinite suspension last night because of a comment he made about the MAGA Republicans looking for someone other than themselves to blame for Charlie Kirk's death. After Jimmy made that brief remark he followed it with a reporter asking Trump how he was holding up following Charlie Kirk's death. Trump briefly said he was holding up well then quickly diverted the reporter's attention to the constructions of his new ballroom at the White House. Trump didn't like the satire showing that (perhaps) he doesn't have much empathy for others but is more concerned with his latest vanity project. That angered Trump so he got his appointed head of the FCC to put pressure on ABC and Disney to fire Jimmy Kimmel. Disney and ABC obeyed in advance, doing what so many others in the MSM (CBS, Washington Post, ABC, law firms, colleges, etc) are doing; putting their bottom line before Constitutionally protected free speech in the United States.

We are at a tipping point friends. I never thought I would see so much cowardice of those in power in my lifetime as a United States citizen. Free speech is something that I always took for granted and what made the United States an exceptional country on the world stage. Turns out that was a fake too, just like all reality shows.

BREAKING! Matt Gaetz WITHDRAWS From Attorney General Confirmation! Did T...

Matt Gaetz pulls out!

The Orange Jesus (Donald Trump) on picks "the best" for his cabinet.

Whoops! What happened with Matt Gaetz?

Those damn Democrats, they did it again.

While Trump is trying to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, "the radical far left Dems" tank Trump's nomination of Matt ("I have sex with underage girls") Gaetz as his attorney general.

What a minute! You say that there were actually some Republicans who found their spine and were going to vote against the massively unqualified Matt Gaetz for Attorney General? Now this is hard to believe. I'm more of the persuasion that those Republicans were less concerned about Gaetz's qualification to be Attorney General and more concerned that they just don't like the douchebag that Matt Gaetz has proven himself to be over and over again.

Yeah, Trump picks only "the best."

You know at first I was down in the dumps realizing that most of my fellow Americans voted for the Convicted Felon (by a jury of his peers and NOT Joe Biden) but now I'm looking forward to the next four years of this Shit Show that will be Donald Trump.

Here's a message for you Trump voters:

Fuck around and find out

This is just the beginning folks.

One More Day To Go!

Only one more day to go until I can cast my vote to finally put an end to this horror that has been afflicting our country for the last nine years.

I along with millions of my fellow American voters will defeat soundly with our votes tomorrow this convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, and traitor to our country who tried to overturn the last election.

Remember this friends, there are more of us than there are of them. Many of "them" are our friends, relatives and neighbors who have either been duped by the Trump Big Lie (still amazes me how so many otherwise intelligence people consistently buy into Trump's lies) or are racist and/or misogynists who just can't bring themselves to vote for a biracial woman. And of course there are those who are very tribal and would never in their lifetime vote for any Democrat no matter how awful the Republican nominee is. This is where I can rightly claim to be superior because I always vote for the best candidate, Republican or Democrat. Would you believe the first time in my life I voted was for Barry Goldwater in 1964? Yes, I used be a registered Republican. In fact for most of my life I was a registered Republican. But not now because this Republican Party is not the one I used to belong too. This is the Donald Trump "Dear Leader" party and I don't vote for wanna be tyrants. I have a brain, thank goodness. What the hell is the matter with these people? The only thing I can think is that they're totally brainwashed by only watching Faux News. They're in that information silo. Either that or they don't want to hear the truth.

I will vote early tomorrow. This year my voting location is at the church that is at the entrance to the development where I live. It's been a long wait folks but Trump's accountability is almost here. I can't wait!

My Life Philosophy Now

I've wasted too much of my life trying to please everybody. This is my new mantra. Better late than never. Especially now that I've lost so many of my family (my brother especially who is totally MAGA) and others who I once considered my friends. I cannot abide our ignorance and hate in supporting Donald Trump for president. I am done with you.

In a few weeks I'll be eighty-three years old. In the pat eighty or so years I have discovered that people you let into your life will either respect you and your views or they will not. If they do not, then do not waste one more second of your precious time on them. Nothing I would or could ever say will convince them otherwise because they are lost in the cult. I will live the rest of my life with those who respect me. I don't have any more time to waste on these people who do not respect me.

"Say It Too My Face!"

The Criminal Donald Trump has backed out of a debate with the presumed Democratic candidate for president Kamala Harris.

He's afraid of her.

Trump is afraid of intelligent, powerful, black women.

What a pathetic man.

Last night at her rally in Atlanta Georgia Kamala Harris called out the bully Trump.

Trump has been talking trash about Kamala. But he's afraid to debate her.

Trump is a coward.

What a LOSER!

And yes, Trump is just WEIRD!

What a Year!

One day left in 2020. What a year huh folks?

Interesting I didn't get any comments on my "Satan Meets 2020" previous blog post. I for one thought it was hilarious. But they I have a weird sense of humor. Great Satan though, some horns.

All is well here at Casa Tipton-Kelly. Neither Bill or I have the COVID virus. We're pretty well isolated except for our neighbor who visits us occasionally for a short period of time. He never wears a mask (he's a Trumper). I like him and he's a great neighbor but both Bill and I do keep our distance when he visits us. I was especially worried this past week because he had his extended family visit him for the Christmas holidays, nary a mask in sight. Which just goes to show you that sometimes good people make bad decisions. It's one thing not to want to be inconvenienced with wearing a mask but to put others at risk because of your "I got my freedoms" attitude is quite another thing.

Trump continues to refuse to admit he LOST the election.  Just today Senator Josh Hawley of Missouri said he will contest the Electoral College certification that the U.S. Senate will hold January 6th. Hawley thinks he's a viable candidate for the U.S. presidency in 2024. What this stupid fuck doesn't realize is that he has revealed himself to be a traitor to democracy by his selfish and sycophancy to Dear Leader, Donald J. Trump. Just think folks, only twenty-three days left until Trump is finally gone and assigned to the dustbin of history along with other colossal LOSERS. Trump joins that exclusive presidential club of one term presidents George H. W. Bush, Jimmy Carter and Herbert Hoover. All LOSERS! At least Jimmy Carter renewed himself and his reputation with his Habitat for Humanity volunteerism. Donald Trump will go down in history as the biggest loser ever, a fitting epitaph for this truly evil person. Trump has gotten away his whole life cheating and breaking laws. That's about to end once he leaves office January 20th, 2021. No one is above the law. Trump is nothing but a cheap criminal and his time is coming. Get a new hero Trumpers, Donald's going to be busy with his court cases.

I've officially cancelled my February trip to Palm Springs. Still waiting for my refund. This makes three plane trips (received credit) and three trips (hotels) cancelled this year. I don't think I'll be able to renew my trips with Pat until this coming fall, when I usually visit Pat in Hamilton, Ontario. I miss our trips but I stay in touch with Pat several times a day via FaceTime.

Tomorrow, New Year's Eve, I work at the hotel. I'll be home in time to bring in the New Year with Anderson and Andy. See you there!

Crazytown

Washington Post reporter and Watergate legend Bob Woodard's book about Trump comes out September 11th.  I ordered it yesterday from my Amazon prime account.

In the book he confirms what we all know (and yes, even hard core base Trump supporters), that Trump is idiot and has the understanding of a
"fifth or sixth grader", which to me insults fifth and sixth graders.

I don't like to post these political rants to my blog and believe it or not I do restrain myself, but I have to admit I worry every day about the state of our country. Trump is not competent to be president of the United States. Trump isn't competent to hold any political office.  Trump is a con man and everyone knows it.  Even his supporters know that fact but they don't care. Forget them.  They'll never change because they're on the Trump Train.

What really concerns me is that our system of government has totally broken down.  The Republican controlled Congress has given Trump a pass on his criminality.  They have put their own selfish interests (holding on to power, tax cuts, and packing the courts with Republican judges) over the welfare and safety of the country.

Another concern I have and something that really saddens me is the discovery that so many of my friends and neighbors who I like and respect, are blind to Trump's incompetence and criminality and yes, his traitorous activity in sucking up to Russian president Vladimir Putin.

Yesterday I was talking to an old friend that I went to college with.  I haven't talked to him for years.  He called me to check on the status of our mutual prostate cancer situation.  He also told me that he and his wife were considering moving to Delaware from Pennsylvania (to get away from the high Pennsylvania taxes of course) and would like my advice which I am glad to give.  During our course of conversation I mentioned I was listening to the Trump nominated Kavanaugh hearings on TV.  During the conversation I found out that Rich (his name) supported Trump.  My immediate feeling was one of sadness and disappointment because I always considered Rich intelligent and reasonable. I have to admit I am baffled how anyone could support Trump.  Hillary is gone so it can't be Hillary Hate.  I know Rich and he's not one of those people who got freaked out because a black man was in the White House for eight years. So I just don't understand.

Last night I was so tired that I didn't even stay up late enough watch Rachel and Lawrence on MSNBC.  I woke up in a sweat about 1:30 am. I managed to get back to sleep and got up at my regular time at quarter to seven this morning. I'm still exhausted.  I wonder is my exhaustion is caused by the current peril our country is in because of Trump and crazy town?

I feel that eventually this horrible situation our country is in because of Trump will right itself. They may have to take Trump out of the White House in handcuffs because you know Trump won't go willingly.  I have no fear of the Trump supporters rioting.  That element has always been in this country.

I don't know how long this will take. The first step in the removal of Trump from office will began after the fall mid term elections. I'll be in Philadelphia that week with my very good friend and Canadian Travel Buddy Pat. Hope this year will be vastly different form 2016 when I arrived in Philadelphia prepared to celebrate my birthday the day after the election of Trump to the presidency of the United States. Of course I didn't celebrate. That year was perhaps the worst birthday I've ever had. And this nightmare has continued for the past two years.

This year I hope is different. I cannot imagine any other scenario.  I hope and pray (and I don't pray) that I live long enough to see Trump and (yes) even his kids (including Ivanka) in prison.  Now that would be a birthday present and proof that NO ONE is above the law.

Trump has been breaking the law for his whole adult life.  That folks is about to come to an end.

Couldn't Sleep

This morning I awoke up at 4:32 am this morning. Couldn't get back to sleep.  Why? I couldn't sleep after that atrocity yesterday that the Congressional Republicans passed that tax scam bill that pays back their corporate donors, lies about tax cuts for middle America and guts the Affordable Care Act by repealing the individual mandate. What do the Republicans do for our country other than reward the very rich and make life more difficult for the rest of us? they are bought and paid for which they proved yesterday with that obscene White House gathering yesterday praising Dear Leader.

Of course our fake president (Trump - whose picture I will NEVER offend my readers by posting again on this blog) had an event at the White House yesterday to gloat.

What really sickened me was the sycophants who publicly performed fellatio on Trump during Trumps cabinet meeting yesterday.  I literally gagged when I watched Vice President Mike Pence disgrace himself by seeing how far he could get his tongue up Trump's fat golf cart riding ass.   Does he (Pence) has no self respect? Apparently not. Nor do the other cabinet members. At least they didn't prostate themselves like that last Trump cabinet meeting where Trump had them go around the table giving each one the opportunity to effusively praise him which they did.

Check out Pence's High Five hand clapping that all the congressional Republicans gleefully obliged Trump yesterday during that gathering yesterday on the White House steps after Trump summoned them to praise him. The last time I saw that kind of sycophant hand clapping was at a Kim Jong-un public event. Those North Korean generals know if they don't High Five Clap and smile ear to ear they won't be at the next Kim Jon-un event.

Hey folks, do you see what's happening here? Trump is development a cult of personality. We are entering dangerous territory.  For the first time in my life I fear for our country. And that is because of those Republican enablers who praise Trump effusively even though they know he is the most incompetent and offensive president that this country has ever had.

"Exquisite?" Really Paul Ryan?  We all know that you're celebrating your orgasmic victory of "tax reform" after years of working for it. Now you can finally get rid of that hard on you've been carrying for twenty plus year.  Oh wait, you've already said next year you're going to go after Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security.

You see why I can't sleep folks?  What is happening to our country?

By the way, isn't Paul "Eddie Munster" Ryan the goofiest fuck you've ever seen in your life?

Trying to Keep the Christmas Spirit

Trying to keep the Christmas spirit this year is mighty tough folks.

The cowed Republicans in Congress are about to pass a massive tax cut bill masquerading as "tax reform) rewarding their rich donors.

Make no mistake folks, this so called "tax reform" is really a tax cut as a payoff to their rich campaign donors.  Once this disgraceful tax bill is passed then Paul Ryan will realize his life long dream in destroying the social safety net of Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security. This is called "The Texas Two Step."  Put the government in a massive deficit then claim they have to cut so called "entitlement" programs to pay for those massive tax cuts to their rich donors.

Our monster president continues to embarrass us in the world by his immature behavior and recklessness in sending unqualified men for lifetime judicial appointments.

Now Trump and his jackals are trying to disgrace the FBI and Special Counsel Robert Mueller who is closing in on him and his cohorts who colluded with Russia.  I'll say what is obvious, Trump has been funded for years by Russia through laundered money which is why he won't release his tax returns.

Folks, for the first time in my life I wake up almost every day, sick to my stomach knowing that this wretched mass of flesh is occupying the White House and is enabled by so many spineless Republicans in Congress.

And don't tell me about the Senators John McCain, Jeff Flake, Lisa Murkowski, Susan Collins and Senator Bob Corker. They talk a big game but fall in line to vote the Trump agenda. Shame on them.  Especially voting for this tax bill that repeals the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act ("Obama Care") thus depriving millions of affordable insurance.  And especially disgusting is Florida Senator Marco Rubio ("Little Marco") who seriously thinks he is still going to run for president again.  Marco Rubio, who posses no spine. Marco Rubio, who always has his finger to the wind. Sickening.

I never in my life thought I would be ashamed to be an American but I have to tell you folks, today I am. I hope during my lifetime this travesty that is called the Trump Presidency is just a bad, bad memory.

Shame on all those who support and enable this sexual predator, liar, and monster.

As long as he is president our country is in great danger.

Am I Still Blogging?

Again, I've been absent from my blog.  My lame excuse is that I'm just too busy around here. That's a sad excuse, isn't folks? I hate it when someone gives me that excuse "I'm just too busy."  But here I am doing that very same thing.

So here you go folks. It is springtime and I'm outside a lot, doing yard work. We're having a wonderful spring here (cool temperatures with sun and rain evenly distributed) and I'm enjoying working here at Casa Tipton-Kelly.

When I'm not outside on our one acre sylvan oasis, I'm following the latest outrages of Donald Trump.  I have to say I'm not surprised at the way the Trump Presidency is turning out to be an unmitigated disaster but what really surprises me is the silence of the Congressional Republicans. They are looking the other way and letting the raging orange monster in the White House get away with his temper tantrums.  I have to say this is a "show" that I am enjoying.  It's just a matter of time folks before the guys in the white jackets take the Child in the White House out in a straight jacket.  That folks I am SOOOO looking forward too.

So here is what is on my agenda.  This time next Monday I will be under anesthesia for my shock wave therapy to remove my kidney stones.  My Travel Buddy Pat will be coming down early from his home in Toronto next Sunday to drive me to Dover for this procedure.  Bill normally drives me to these medical procedures but he lost his license last summer because of his cataracts.  He has one eye done but his other eye isn't scheduled until June 22nd.  Thus I roped Pat into hauling my carcass up to Dover for this medical procedure.

Another good example of my hectic schedule is that I just got a call from one of my co-workers to come into work two hours early today.  There goes my schedule again.  Sometimes I feel like a substitute front desk agent instead of a part-time front desk agent. But I am off next Monday and one of my co-workers is filling in for me so I guess I should be flexible.  Check that previous statement:  I SHOULD BE FLEXIBLE.

Pat will be visiting for ten days. Five days here and five in Philadelphia at my friend Don McK.'s co-op in center city.  So looking forward to visiting Don and Philly again and checking out new venues with Pat.  Pat and I get together four times a year.  My next get together with Pat will be after Labor Day at his new home in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Well, I'm rambling now but I did want to let you all know where I've been.  I'm still here folks and will keep blogging.

Trump's "Saturday Night Massacre"

Donald Trump, our national embarrassment

President Donald Trump fired FBI director James Comey today.  He used the excuse of Comey's handling of the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation. This is the same Trump who praised Comey's handling of the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation. Folks, don't buy the latest Trump con. Trump fired FBI James Comey because Comey is investigation of the Russian ties to the Trump presidential campaign.

Folks, I remember well former president Richard M. Nixon firing all those prosecutors who were investigating Watergate ties to his White House. I voted for Nixon (twice) and believed Nixon until he showed his real hand by firing the prosecutors and shut down the special prosecutor's office. You students of history know how that ended.  And this is how Trump's presidency will end.

The blowback to Trump's heavy handed way of firing anyone who gets close to getting to the truth of the Russian ties to the Trump campaign.

Finally, this is the beginning of the end of the Trump presidency. Now to see how many Republicans, who up to now have been all too willing to look the other way of Trump's incompetence and breaking of normal rules of the presidency.

Folks, at best we have a con man as president.  At worst we have a criminal and a traitor as president.  Tonight is the beginning of the end for the Trump presidency.

One good thing will come out of this nasty and unsavory state of affairs, Trump and his supporters will see how American democracy works.

Trump and House Republicans Declare Health Care Victory

Trump and the House Republicans "celebrating" taking healthcare away from 24 millions Americans and taking the fist step to giving 880 billion dollars in tax cuts to the richest Americans.  All white, comfortable and powerful white men. Do you not know anything about images you dumb ass orange monster? "Look at me, I'm president!"

Take a look at this photo folks of all these white men declaring "victory" over repealing and replacing the Affordable Care Act, otherwise known as "Obama Care."

Yes, all comfortable well off white men of power and influence have just passed a bill that will take health care away from 24 million Americans.

Of course this isn't law yet.  The Republicans were bussed over to the White House to feed Trump's insatiable ego.  The law they passed has to go through the Senate yet.  And the consensus is that it will never pass the Senate in its present form.

So what are all these comfortable, well off and powerful white men celebrating?  The fact that they could get ANYTHING out of the House of Representatives.  Did they actually read the bill? Very doubtful.  Does Trump actually know what's in the bill?  Highly doubtful.  It is a well known fact that Trump is too lazy to read.  Short attention span.

So here we go folks, the Republicans are now busy trying to pass more BIG LIES to the American public like those with pre-existing conditions will not be affected by this bill. So why pass another bill?  Just to get rid of the name Obamacare?  Certainly.

So here is the TRUTH folks, this is the first step of a massive transfer of wealth from poor and middle class Americans to the very wealthy.  Eight-hundred and eighty-billion in tax cuts mainly benefiting the rich over the next ten years defunding Medicaid. Older folks will pay up to five times the price of their premiums that they pay now. And those with pre-existing conditions WILL lose.  People will die just so the rich can have more tax cuts, that they clearly don't need.

Two of the biggest monsters and liars in public life today - Paul Ryan is about to realize his lifetime dream of destroying the safety net of Medicare and Social Security.  One is clueless and the other knows exactly what he is doing - using the clueless one to advance his agenda.

So much for Trump's promise during his campaign that he would not touch Medicaid. But of course by now we all know that Trump is a pathological liar.  Even his most fervent supporters will admit that fact now.

We are living in dark times folks. This is a test for our democracy.

A very self satisfied monster and his soulless enablers

Trump's First 100 Days

Trump's fat ass ascending the presidential helicopter

Today marks the 100th day of the Trump presidency. So how successful was Trump in fulfilling all his promises?  Well, to use one of Trumps limited use of superlatives, his first 100 days was an "amazing failure."

Other than filling the Supreme Court Justice seat that the Republicans stole from Obama and the Democrats, Trump was not fulfilled ANY of his oft proclaimed promises at his many self aggrandizement rallies.  And oh yes, another rally will be held tonight in Harrisburg Pennsylvania. Trump needs these reboots to his ego the way a drug addict needs a needle in his vein.

I could list all the promises that Trump has made to his base (and the country) but I won't in this post. Most of you know the promises.  Trump will build a wall, and Mexico will pay for it. Trump will repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act.  Yes, I could list all the promises that he has failed to keep ad nauseam. However, one thing that Trump has succeeded in doing is disabusing the office of the presidency by this lies and boorish behavior. Check out the photo below where he leaves his wife Melania behind as he bounds the steps to the White House to meet the Obamas. Have we ever seen anyone who is more clueless?  For the first time in my life I am embarrassed to be an American.  I feel sorry for Melania. Talk about selling your soul for a gilded aviary.

"Mr. Manners" Trump leaves Melania behind as he meets the Obamas

So here we go for the next 1,360 days of the Trump presidency.  God help us.

This man who is the head of our country and the leader of the free world is a pathological liar. We are the laughing stock of the world. Thank you Trump supporters for inflicting this disaster on our country.

Trump Presidency Is Unraveling

Michael Flynn leading the "Lock her up!" chant at the Republican convention

Every day I watch the further unraveling of the Trump presidency.

I remember clearly when the Nixon presidency unraveled.

I voted for Nixon. Twice I voted for him. That was a time in my life when I was a conservative Republican who believed in fiscal responsibility and conservative values.

I believed Nixon that he didn't know about the "plumbers" that broke into the Democratic headquarters.

The year was 1974 and I was summer vacationing in Provincetown, Massachusetts. That was 43 years ago.

When Nixon was found to be lying (because he secretly tape recorded White House conversations) and was forced to resign rather than face impeachment and prison, I couldn't believe it. I was shocked.

Never again in my lifetime did I think I would witness a president who resigned from office in disgrace.

Well folks, that time has come again.

Donald Trump hasn't even finished one hundred days in office and already his presidency is meshed in numerous scandals. But the worst scandal is slowly coming out.  And that scandal is that he and his campaign has colluded with Russia to affect the presidential election.  Of that I have no doubt.

Yesterday, the odious General Flynn has requested immunity because he has "a story to tell."  I bet he does. General Flynn, who infamously led the chant at the Republican Convention to lock up Hillary Clinton, now fears jail for himself. He should fear jail. He belongs in jail because I believe he worked for Russia. Of that I have no doubt.

So what do I expect to happen?  I think we will be witnessing history again. Trump will resign.  Pence will resign because he knew Flynn was lying.  I think the election will be declared null and void. I think a new election will be held. History will be made.

This story is long from over. Of course the die hard Trump supporters, the ones who would support him even if he shoots someone on Fifth Avenue, will be outraged. So what?  Who cares?  I don't.  I've had it with the diehard Trump poorly educated supporters.  They will never be satisfied.

The United States has to regain respect in the world and it's never going to happen as long as Donald Trump and his incompetent minions are in power.

Trumpcare Bill Fails To Pass Congress!

Eddie Munster Paul Ryan - BIG LOSER TODAY

President Donald J. Trump suffered a major loss today. The "dealmaker" couldn't make the deal.

Of course now Trump is now blaming the Democrats for the failure of the bill to pass. This is interesting since the Republicans hold a HUUUUUUGE majority in the House.

Paul Ryan was hellbent on passing Trumpcare yesterday on the seventh anniversary of the signing of the Affordable Care Act (aka "Obamacare") into law.  Guess he and his cohorts won't be doing a circle jerk on that mean spirited goal of taking away healthcare from 24 million Americans.

One would only hope that Trump learned a lesson today.  That he is not the Emperor.  He is not the king.  He is the president of the United States and he will have to work with ALL of the members of Congress, including the Democrats and yes, the much hated Nancy Pelosi.

Today was a good day for America folks. Twenty-four Americans didn't lose their health care.

Are their problems with the Affordable Care Act?  Absolutely!  Now let's work with the Democrats to fix it. Put the American people first. Of course the only answer is a single payer system.  Let's do it!

Ron Tweets "Joe Scarborough the Clapping Seal"

Last night, while I was listening to Donald Trump address a joint session of Congress, I noticed a clapping seal over in the Democratic section of the audience. I thought "Who is that goofy idiot who is so rude and stupid to be clapping right in the midst of all those serious Democrats who were studiously avoiding clapping for Trump?"

I rarely Tweet but I felt the need so I opened my Twitter account and posed this Tweeted this question:

I thought it was Scarborough, a former Republican congressman now a TV talk show host of "Morning Joe."

"How rude!" I thought.  Here Scarborough, sitting next to Maryland Congressman Elijah Cummings, who obviously invited him as a guest, is clapping like a trained seal at everything Trump is lying saying from the well of the House, in front of those two smirking idiots Pence and Ryan.

Scarborough was the only one clapping on that side of the House.  Nice move Idiot Joe.

So guess what happened?  My iPhone started to "Bing!"  I thought my Travel Buddy Pat of Toronto was texting me.  Then my phone "Binged" again. . . . and again. . . . and again!

Hey, I hit a nerve in the Twitter ether.  Folks were liking my Tweet and re Tweeting it.  Now that's a first.  Am I a star or what?

Then this morning I did a Google search and much to my surprise I found that my Tweet was a trending Tweet according to the Washington Post. See below:

I often watch Scarborough's show in the morning ("Morning Joe") but sometimes I have to turn it off because I can't stand any more of his profound ignorance and the way he bullies and talks over (often shouting) his cohost and guests on his show, unless they are the Republican True Believers like Dick Cheney and other repugnant Republicans.

I hope Scarborough saw my Tweet and it embarrassed him because he's about as thin skinned as Trump.  Most bullies are thin skinned.

But whatever, I'm glad my voice was heard last night.

Is this a great country or what?

My New Toilet Bidet

Hey folks! Tell you what I'm going to do. I'm going to give you all a break from my political rants.  Not that there isn't a lot to rant about. In fact it's hard to keep up with the daily outrages of the incompetent, Keystone Cops antics of the Trump administration regime.

Time to catch up on the latest doings here at Casa Tipton-Kelly.

We're getting a break from the seemingly endless succession of doctors' appointments. And to think I used to tease my Mother about her days being consumed with one doctor's appointment after another.  I remember back to my halcyon youth when I would go YEARS without a doctor's appointment.  No more folks, the Old Guy here is gradually falling apart, just like an old classic car.  No matter how much you take good care of your new car, inevitably parts start to go.  That's where I am at in life now folks, trying to keep the parts in working order.

Well, one thing I did last week has made my life so much easier is the installation of a toilet bidet.  Yes folks, after years of wishing that I had one of those toilet bidet contraptions that shot cold water up your ass after a dump, I got one!

I have read that toilet bidets are common in other countries.  In our country I've read that many Hollywood celebrities get their ass cleaned out after moving their bowels.  I envied them.

Ever since my prostate procedure (seed implants) I have had a bowel "situation".  I sorry if I'm grossing any one out by being so blunt but that situation did and does exist.  This "situation" is one of the unfortunate by products of prostate cancer treatment.  Thankfully I don't have urinary incontinence, which is what my oncologist was concerned about.  But the other problem does exist.

I used these so called disposable wipes, which as you know really aren't disposable.

We have a septic tank here at Casa Tipton-Kelly, which I quickly filled up last year. When the honey-pot septic cleaner guy came by last summer he advised me to NOT dispose the wipes in the toiled but put them in a trash can like his wife does. Hmmmm, doesn't that sound nice?  Hardly.

I tried a half-way measure, some in the trash (the ones that weren't too messy) and the others in the toilet.  Still, I was going through those wipes fast.
What to do?  Stop pooping?

I had checked out different bidet attachments before and they all looked so complicated.  Then a few weeks ago I saw one on Amazon that looked simple to install and didn't require electricity. It  got excellent reviews.  It only cost $39.99.  I ordered it.

It arrived two weeks ago.  Now to install it.  I don't care how simple it claims to install I am NOT mechanically inclined. And I especially didn't want to take a chance with water connections.

I hired one of my neighbors (Scott) who is a handyman and did some work for me last summer.  He replaced the roof tiles on my garden shed.

Scott installed my toilet bidet last Saturday.  He tested it. The water shot right up to the bathroom door! It works!

I tested it later in the day.  Folks, it was fabulous!

I was a bit concerned with the cold water but that turned out not to be a problem.  In fact, it felt rather ("rawther") good to have that cold shot up my anal cavity. And the best part, I felt clean.

One of the postive reviews I read said "You wouldn't clean mud off of your driveway with a paper towel. You would use a hose with water. Why not clean yourself the same way?"  Indeed.

Just another small step in making life more comfortable and easier to get through the day folks.

Life is good.  Now if we can just do something about that orange faced narcissist in the Oval Office who is making a laughing stock out of our country and making us less dangerous.

You didn't think I was going to let one day go without just one little political jab did you?

Monday Night Massacre

In 1974 I was a Republican.  I voted for Richard Nixon, twice.

I believed Richard Nixon's explanation during the Watergate break in.  Then there was the "Saturday Night Massacre."  That's when I stopped believing Richard Nixon.  That's when I knew he was a crook.

When Donald Trump came down that escalator with his glamorous wife, and announced he was running for president.  I was favorable to him.  I thought the system needed shaken up.  But as Donald Trump's campaign progressed and I realized that he was an immature, divisive, misogynist, bully; he lost my support.

Saturday night Donald Trump fired the acting Attorney General, Sally Yates, because she couldn't in conscience defend Trump's Muslim ban.  Trump cannot do this (the ban).  We have a Constitution in this country and we are a country of laws. We are not ruled by a king.

Check our the video I posted above of Senator Sessions questioning Sally Yates during her confirmation hearing. He asked "Would you say no to the president if he asked you to do something you considered improper or unlawful?" Of course the irony here is that Senator Sessions is now Trump's candidate for Attorney General. Do you think Senator Sessions would say "No"?  I think not.

A Clarifying Moment in American History

This morning I awoke with this continuing feeling of dread in the pit of my stomach.  Ever since Donald Trump was inaugurated I have had this feeling of the bottom dropping out of life as we know it.

I love my country. I am proud of my country.

Fifty six years ago on January 27th, a date I will always remember as long as I am alive, I volunteered for service (Army) for my country. I am no hero and I was scared to death when I boarded that Trailways bus from Philadelphia early on that cold January morning to Fort Dix New Jersey.  I was putting my life on the line for my country because I felt it was my duty. A small price to pay for living in the greatest country in the world.

Thousands of other men and women have paid the ultimate price, their lives, in service of our country. Why?  So we can have the freedoms that no other country on this earth has.

And now what do we have?  A despot in power who is ignoring the usual norms of a democracy.

I cannot escape this feeling of dread that I have. Already he has insulted our neighbors and friends. He attacks Meryl Streep but praises Vladimir Putin, a thug and murderer.

I struggle for words to express the great danger that faces our country right now.

We elect a president to protect us.  Instead this country has a president who is making us less safe.

This morning I read a column by Eliot A. Cohen, who was a counselor in the United State Department under Condoleeza Rice from 2007 to 2009. Mr. Cohen expresses my feelings more than I ever could with my limited skills of expression.

A Clarifying Moment in American History
There should be nothing surprising about what Donald Trump has done in his first week—but he has underestimated the resilience of Americans and their institutions.

I am not surprised by President Donald Trump’s antics this week. Not by the big splashy pronouncements such as announcing a wall that he would force Mexico to pay for, even as the Mexican foreign minister held talks with American officials in Washington. Not by the quiet, but no less dangerous bureaucratic orders, such as kicking the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff out of meetings of the Principals’ Committee, the senior foreign-policy decision-making group below the president, while inserting his chief ideologist, Steve Bannon, into them. Many conservative foreign-policy and national-security experts saw the dangers last spring and summer, which is why we signed letters denouncing not Trump’s policies but his temperament; not his program but his character.
We were right. And friends who urged us to tone it down, to make our peace with him, to stop saying as loudly as we could “this is abnormal,” to accommodate him, to show loyalty to the Republican Party, to think that he and his advisers could be tamed, were wrong. In an epic week beginning with a dark and divisive inaugural speech, extraordinary attacks on a free press, a visit to the CIA that dishonored a monument to anonymous heroes who paid the ultimate price, and now an attempt to ban selected groups of Muslims (including interpreters who served with our forces in Iraq and those with green cards, though not those from countries with Trump hotels, or from really indispensable states like Saudi Arabia), he has lived down to expectations.

Precisely because the problem is one of temperament and character, it will not get better. It will get worse, as power intoxicates Trump and those around him. It will probably end in calamity—substantial domestic protest and violence, a breakdown of international economic relationships, the collapse of major alliances, or perhaps one or more new wars (even with China) on top of the ones we already have. It will not be surprising in the slightest if his term ends not in four or in eight years, but sooner, with impeachment or removal under the 25th Amendment. The sooner Americans get used to these likelihoods, the better.
The question is, what should Americans do about it? To friends still thinking of serving as political appointees in this administration, beware: When you sell your soul to the Devil, he prefers to collect his purchase on the installment plan. Trump’s disregard for either Secretary of Defense Mattis or Secretary-designate Tillerson in his disastrous policy salvos this week, in favor of his White House advisers, tells you all you need to know about who is really in charge. To be associated with these people is going to be, for all but the strongest characters, an exercise in moral self-destruction.
For the community of conservative thinkers and experts, and more importantly, conservative politicians, this is a testing time. Either you stand up for your principles and for what you know is decent behavior, or you go down, if not now, then years from now, as a coward or opportunist. Your reputation will never recover, nor should it.

Rifts are opening up among friends that will not be healed. The conservative movement of Ronald Reagan and Jack Kemp, of William F. Buckley and Irving Kristol, was always heterogeneous, but it more or less hung together. No more. New currents of thought, new alliances, new political configurations will emerge. The biggest split will be between those who draw a line and the power-sick—whose longing to have access to power, or influence it, or indeed to wield it themselves—causes them to fatally compromise their values. For many more it will be a split between those obsessed with anxiety, hatred, and resentment, and those who can hear Lincoln’s call to the better angels of our nature, whose America is not replete with carnage, but a city on a hill.
This is one of those clarifying moments in American history, and like most such, it came upon us unawares, although historians in later years will be able to trace the deep and the contingent causes that brought us to this day. There is nothing to fear in this fact; rather, patriots should embrace it. The story of the United States is, as Lincoln put it, a perpetual story of “a rebirth of freedom” and not just its inheritance from the founding generation.
Some Americans can fight abuses of power and disastrous policies directly—in courts, in congressional offices, in the press. But all can dedicate themselves to restoring the qualities upon which this republic, like all republics depends: on reverence for the truth; on a sober patriotism grounded in duty, moderation, respect for law, commitment to tradition, knowledge of our history, and open-mindedness. These are all the opposites of the qualities exhibited by this president and his advisers. Trump, in one spectacular week, has already shown himself one of the worst of our presidents, who has no regard for the truth (indeed a contempt for it), whose patriotism is a belligerent nationalism, whose prior public service lay in avoiding both the draft and taxes, who does not know the Constitution, does not read and therefore does not understand our history, and who, at his moment of greatest success, obsesses about approval ratings, how many people listened to him on the Mall, and enemies.

He will do much more damage before he departs the scene, to become a subject of horrified wonder in our grandchildren’s history books. To repair the damage he will have done Americans must give particular care to how they educate their children, not only in love of country but in fair-mindedness; not only in democratic processes but democratic values. Americans, in their own communities, can find common ground with those whom they have been accustomed to think of as political opponents. They can attempt to renew a political culture damaged by their decayed systems of civic education, and by the cynicism of their popular culture.
There is in this week’s events the foretaste of things to come. We have yet to see what happens when Trump tries to use the Internal Revenue Service or the Federal Bureau of Investigation to destroy his opponents. He thinks he has succeeded in bullying companies, and he has no compunction about bullying individuals, including those with infinitely less power than himself. His advisers are already calling for journalists critical of the administration to be fired: Expect more efforts at personal retribution. He has demonstrated that he intends to govern by executive orders that will replace the laws passed by the people’s representatives.
In the end, however, he will fail. He will fail because however shrewd his tactics are, his strategy is terrible—The New York Times, the CIA, Mexican Americans, and all the others he has attacked are not going away. With every act he makes new enemies for himself and strengthens their commitment; he has his followers, but he gains no new friends. He will fail because he cannot corrupt the courts, and because even the most timid senator sooner or later will say “enough.” He will fail most of all because at the end of the day most Americans, including most of those who voted for him, are decent people who have no desire to live in an American version of Tayyip Erdogan’s Turkey, or Viktor Orban’s Hungary, or Vladimir Putin’s Russia.

There was nothing unanticipated in this first disturbing week of the Trump administration. It will not get better. Americans should therefore steel themselves, and hold their representatives to account. Those in a position to take a stand should do so, and those who are not should lay the groundwork for a better day. There is nothing great about the America that Trump thinks he is going to make; but in the end, it is the greatness of America that will stop him.
