TRUMP WON!

Today I am ashamed to be an American.

The myth of America, "The Shining City On A Hill" was all a lie.

The truth is that we're basically a racist and misogynistic country.

The search for who is the blame for Kamala losing the election will begin now.

No, it's not Merrick Garland's fault she lost.

No, it's not her fault if she choose Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro as her running mate thus gaining the support of Pennsylvania's crucial Electoral College votes.

And there are many other reasons people will be looking to blame Kamala's loss.

You can't blame Kamala because she ran an almost flawless campaign.

The fault is our Electoral College system which again, the candidate with the most votes does not win the election.

But the bigger fault is that undercurrent of racism and even more so misogyny that exist in this country.

I do believe now (and to be truthful always suspected) that there was no way this country would ever elect a woman as president. So instead this country elects Trump, a convicted felon who couldn't get a job at most businesses.

So how am I going to handle the next four years?

Easy.

First thing I cancel my DIRECT-TV account. I'm not going to spend the next four years of my life listening to all things Trump. In a few days I'll be eighty-three years old. I prefer to live whatever time I have left in relative peace. I don't need the daily stress of Trump's latest outrage. I was thinking of cancelling my DIRECT-TV account anyway. It' way too expensive ($152.34) this past month for what I get out of it. I only watch MSNBC and CNN. It's mostly commercials anyway. I won't miss the Humana and Shriner's Hospital commercials.

Secondly I'm lowering my profile. Again, to lessen the stress in my life.

I won't be posting to my Facebook account. I've already made enough of a fool out of myself the past month posting my anti Trump rants. My Facebook friends will be glad of that I'm sure. Give them a break.

I just got off the phone with a friend who is similarly disappointed as I am. He asked me "Are  you moving to Canada now?" Truthfully I would love to but Canada is way too expensive to live in. But when I am in Canada, I don't feel the oppression that I feel here living the states. Another reason I wouldn't move to Canada is that I love my home here in southern coastal Delaware. This home that Bill and I shared for almost twenty years is full of wonderful, heart warming memories. Also my home contains many items from my life. Those items give me comfort. My home is comfortable. I can afford to live here. Here I stay.

This year I have suffered two great losses. Bill dying in February and now the country I thought we were has died yesterday by electing Trump president.

I'm an old man. I don't have that many years to go. I have profound sympathy for those who are younger than I am who now have to endure another four years of chaos and uncertainty that will surely result when Trump takes office January 20, 2025.

Today I am ashamed to be an American.

Note: I have since discovered Trump also won the popular vote. For that I have no explanation other than the majority of the voters preferred Trump over Harris. I'll just have to live with that fact. There is nothing else to be done.

Oh, by the way I tried to cancel my DIRECTV account and they gave me a huge discount. At least I got SOMETHING good out of this debacle. I still won't watch as much TV (if any) for the time being. I've had enough of Trump, thank you.

I Voted!

Me standing in line the first to vote this morning.

Oh yes!

I voted!

And....actually I was first in line. First time I've been first in line since I began voting in 1964.

The line forming after me at The Crossing Church this morning in the fog. The woman in the vest took my picture. I have a suspicion all those guy are Trumpers (they all look alike don't they?) but everyone was pleasant while we waited for the doors to open. Yes, we can all get along, especially after Kamala is elected today!

I was up early this morning.

Couldn't sleep.

Excited like a kid on Christmas Eve.

I am so concerned how this election will turn out. The most concerned I've ever been in my life.

I am confident that Kamala will win but there is that little nagging feeling that somehow, someway, the Trump Brainwashed will vote the Convicted Felon, twice impeached president, serial sexual abuser into office again. After the Surprise of 2016 when Trump eked out a win via the Electoral College over the massively unlikeable Hillary Clinton, I'll always have that little nagging uncertainty that the impossible could happen again. I still have that feeling now.

Now to await the returns.

Nervous!

One More Day To Go!

Only one more day to go until I can cast my vote to finally put an end to this horror that has been afflicting our country for the last nine years.

I along with millions of my fellow American voters will defeat soundly with our votes tomorrow this convicted felon, adjudicated rapist, and traitor to our country who tried to overturn the last election.

Remember this friends, there are more of us than there are of them. Many of "them" are our friends, relatives and neighbors who have either been duped by the Trump Big Lie (still amazes me how so many otherwise intelligence people consistently buy into Trump's lies) or are racist and/or misogynists who just can't bring themselves to vote for a biracial woman. And of course there are those who are very tribal and would never in their lifetime vote for any Democrat no matter how awful the Republican nominee is. This is where I can rightly claim to be superior because I always vote for the best candidate, Republican or Democrat. Would you believe the first time in my life I voted was for Barry Goldwater in 1964? Yes, I used be a registered Republican. In fact for most of my life I was a registered Republican. But not now because this Republican Party is not the one I used to belong too. This is the Donald Trump "Dear Leader" party and I don't vote for wanna be tyrants. I have a brain, thank goodness. What the hell is the matter with these people? The only thing I can think is that they're totally brainwashed by only watching Faux News. They're in that information silo. Either that or they don't want to hear the truth.

I will vote early tomorrow. This year my voting location is at the church that is at the entrance to the development where I live. It's been a long wait folks but Trump's accountability is almost here. I can't wait!

Two Days To Go!

The time of Donald Trump's reckoning is only two days away now.  Finally, we're about to end our national nightmare of Donald Trump as a serious, viable presidential candidate.

Oh I know all the polls indicate a close race. The "margin of error" percentages and all that consistently poll results that the MSM media keeps reporting. I don't believe that. Will Trump and his supporters get a lot of votes? Absolutely! Will they get enough to win?  No way!

I predict the national voting percentages will be at least 51% for Kamala Harris and 47% for Trump.

I also predict Kamala will win all the swing states (Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Arizona, Georgia, Nevada and North Carolina). ALL OF THEM!  And don't be surprised is Kamala also wins a state like Iowa, which was formerly red.

The key to Kamala's win is the women of this country who have decided they're not going to be dictated by the corrupt conservative dominated Supreme Court and Republicans how to handle their health care. Another voting bloc that is going to swing the presidential election is the new first time young voters. Many of which never saw the "grab them by the pussy" tape where Trump brags about sexually assaulting women "just because he's a star." I know it's hard to believe but many of these first time voters haven't seen or heard that time. They have now, it's circulating on Tik Tok. I suspect many of these first time voters don't watch the Republican propaganda disinformation machine that is Faux News.

When this election is over the stain will remain of those Republicans and others in position of power (Warren Buffet, Jeff Bezos, Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg) failed to voice their opposition to The Convicted Felon Donald Trump. Even former president George W. Bush failed to call out Trump. What cowards they all are!

Of course when Trump is soundly defeated these cowards will profess that they were against Trump all along. But we have receipts. When the time came for them to stand up for the country and point out to the great Unwashed Mass of Ignorants who fell for the Trump Con, they were absent. They will go down in history for the cowards they have shown themselves to be.

Less Than A Week To Go!

Oh I can't wait until I vote this Tuesday on November 5th, four days before my birthday on November 9th.

I'm still traumatized over what happened November 9th, 2016. That was Election Day when I heard that The Criminal Trump "won" the presidential election.

I'm trying to remember a time when I was as shocked to learn that there literally are that many ill informed (stupid) people in this country that they would vote for a failed reality TV star. A lifetime con man, crook, thief, sexual abuser of women and congenital liar. Totally unqualified to be the president of the greatest country this world has ever seen. Was it possible that that any of my fellow citizens were conned by the Master Con of all time? Oh yes, it actually happened. Oh I get it, they hate Hilary and the Democrats. I get that. I not particularly fond of Hillary either but I don't hate her.

I hate Trump. I didn't always feel that way about Trump, in fact I was quite the fan for many years. But when I discovered that his facade was all a fraud and they he is actually the personification of evil, I woke  up. I have to admit I almost slipped into the mire of Trump World. But enough of bashing Trump here, I'm doing that on my Facebook account, pissing off a lot of my deluded Tipton relatives. I have to admit I love triggering them. They know I'm right about Trump but they're too insecure to admit they're wrong about Trump. The latest brooha ha is that Biden said the supporters of Trump are garbage. Well, he did say it. Good old Joe, you can always count on him to put his foot in his mouth.

Of course Joe was referring to the comedian at the Trump Nazi love fest in Madison Square Garden who referred to Puerto Rico as an "island of floating garbage." Nice move Trump campaign by hiring that ass swipe for your Hate Rally. That "comedian" probably just lost you Pennsylvania which has a large Puerto Rican population that votes. They needed a little energizing because the Latinos were starting to slip away from the Democrats.

So how are things around here at Casa Tipton-Kelly during this heated presidential campaign? Well, yesterday I had an heated confrontation with a neighbor.

He (no names) was riding around the neighborhood on his bike. I'll give you a little background, he's of Italian heritage from New Jersey. Yes, of course a Trumper. So he rides his bike into my driveway and greets me. I had just returned from the supermarket. I didn't have my hat on and the sun was in my eyes as I started to talk to him. I reach for my Harris/Walz hat in the passenger seat in my car. I usually wear my Rehoboth Beach hat around here at Casa Tipton-Kelly because my neighbor right next door is a Trump supporter. That neighbor and I don't discuss politics so I try not to antagonize him by wearing my Harris/Walz hat. He's a good neighbor and we respect each other's opinion even though I think he's totally wrong. I hope and pray he'll see the light some day but that's another story for another post. Anyway, back to this one neighbor who lives quite a distance away from me in this neighborhood. He sees my hat and starts tearing into me for supporting Kamala. WTF!!?? So I go right back at him. He tells me about the criminality and traitor Trump. He tells me to "Shut up!" I tell him "Don't pull that bully Trumps shit to me in my own driveway!" We had a few more words then he took off. Fuck him! Talk about nerve! In my own driveway and he's giving me grief because I was expressing my support for Kamala Harris by wearing a hat I got from her website. What the fuck is the matter with some of these Trump supporters? Who the fuck do they think they are? IN MY OWN DRIVEWAY!  Another deluded Trump supporter who only gets his "news" from Faux News.

One thing you have to give Trump credit for, he is the Great Divider. I will be so glad when this election is over and we can get back to the business of putting that bastard behind bars where he belongs for his lifetime of crime. I've already lost one brother to this stupidity. It's a shame that I lost this neighbor because other than his Trump Derangement Syndrome, he seemed like a nice guy. But I'm not putting up with his bullshit trying to bully me in my own driveway.

And again how about this latest "garbage" controversy? Trump has been calling Americans garbage for his whole campaign but Joe Biden slips up and The Right goes crazy. Here's what I have to say about that so called controversy:

Remember the whole "Brandon" thing? Talk about faux outrage from the Republicans. What hypocrites. Sean Hannity is outraged. Oh my goodness!

I see where the conservative dominated corrupt Supreme Court yesterday okayed Virginia governor Glenn Youngkin's scheme to purge voters from the rolls this close to the election. That's our corrupt Supreme Court in action again. Doing everything in their power to put Trump back in power. Those six conservative members of the Supreme Court will go down in American history as the most corrupt ever. It's just a shame we have to live with their corruptness. Shame on them!

Suckers and Losers

The only suckers and losers are those who attended the Trump Nazi rally yesterday at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

Their indulgent "own the libs" even yesterday guaranteed that Trump and Vance lose the election. Goodbye the Puerto Rican vote.

As my late friend Wayne "The Cajun" Juneau used to say, "You can't fix stupid."

Long Lines Early Voting

I opted out for early voting yesterday. The lines were way too long. At least an hour and a half wait.

I will probably vote Election Day November 5th. My regular poling place is right here in my development, Covington Chase. I was in Lewes yesterday for my follow-up doctor's appointment for my pass out in the Walmart parking lot this past June when Pat and Glenn were visiting me. My blood pressure is still elevated (144 over 92) which is unusual for me. Last month when I had my blood pressure taken at the VA Outpatient Clinic it was similarly high. Both times we attributed it to the current political climate. I think once this election is over and the Criminal Trump is defeated once and for all, my blood pressure will come down. I hope so anyway. Last night I took my blood pressure medicine for the first time and the nurse practitioner was right, it did make me very fatigued. As if I wasn't already fatigued enough.

Every night I go to bed with a secret wish that I don't wake up. I'm ready to go folks. I'm ready. But first I have to vote to get this Orange Jesus out of or lives once and for all.

VOTE!

Early Voting Begins In Delaware

Early voting began today in Delaware. I was considering voting early but decided not to, fearing long lines. Well, I was right. The wait was an hour and half to two hours. I can't stand that long. Besides, there are only a few early voting locations. On election day my regular voting location is right here in my development. I think I'll wait until then to cast my vote from Kamala Harris and Tim Walz. I cannot wait to vote for Kamala and against that traitor to our country Donald Trump.

Trump has succeeded in terrorizing and intimidating many Republicans and even owners of newspapers like the Washington Post and Los Angeles Times but not me and millions of people like me who are not in the Faux News silo bubble and Cult of Trump. What a shame they can't see the pure evil that Trump is. What a shame. If Trump is elected he wants to punish his enemies. Kamala says if she is elected she wants to help ALL the people. Trump wants to be a dictator. They actually believe if they elect Trump groceries will be cheaper. Wait until he institutes his tariffs which is just another word for a national sales tax.

I would like to say I feel sorry for those Trump supporters but I don't. As my late friend Wayne Juneau used to say "You can't fix stupid."

Kamala Harris responds to, stares down hecklers at Detroit rally during ...

Check it out folks!

Check out the masterful way Kamala handles the hecklers at her Detroit rally yesterday.

First she acknowledges their right to protest.  Then she says "I am speaking now." That should have been the end of the hecklers but they didn't get it. Then she laid into them.

I LOVED IT!

Kamala showed the strength that we want in our next president of the United States.

I LOVE KAMALA!

Pack it in Trumpers, it's over. Kamala Harris and Tim Walz will win in November and our great national nightmare will be over.

Donald Trump and his enablers will be assigned to the dumpster of history.

Josh Shapiro dunks on JD Vance: ‘The most inorganic candidate I have eve...

Well said Governor Shaprio!

J. D. Vance is a total phony.

Donald Trump is having buyer's remorse.

Donald Trump and the Republicans are going to lose bigly this November.

Kamala

Kamala Harris is the right candidate at the right moment at this time for our country.

Make no mistake about it, Trump and his sorry pick for Vice President J. D. Vance are history.

In just one week Kamala's campaign has raised 200 million dollars.

Her campaign has 170,000 new volunteers.

Now Donald Trump is the OLD MAN of the presidential campaign who can't complete a sentence.

Trump's vice presidential choice, J.D Vance has shown himself to be the phony that he is. His disparaging remark about "Childless cat ladies" shows his stupidity.  Vance has less charisma than Florida governor Ron DeSantis, and that was a low bar. Vance thinks that people with kids are more entitled to more voting power than childless couples. Don't be surprised if Trumps tries to dump Vance from his ticket.

Is our country read for a female president?

YES!

Is our country ready for a multi-racial president?

YES!

Now who for vice president?

My personal choice is Pete Buttigieg. Everyone agrees he is personable, intelligent and an excellent communicator. But the elephant in the room is that......wait for it.....Pete is gay! Do I think he could be elected vice president? At first thought I had my doubts but now after seeing him on TV and the reaction to him from many sections of the public, YES, I think he could be elected. But I have to be practical. There is and always will be (or at least until they die out) a segment of our population who will never accept a gay man as vice president or president. But here's the good news, I believe there is even a larger segment of our population, both gay and straight who WOULD vote for Pete Buttigieg. It's going to certainly be interesting to see who Kamala chooses as her vice presidential choice.

My second choice is Pennsylvania governor Josh Shapiro. My Jewish friend Stuart doesn't think this country would accept a Jewish vice president but I disagree with him. I think our country would.

Josh Shapiro is a very popular governor of a state, Pennsylvania, which is a key swing state.

Another name mentioned often is Arizona senator Mark Kelly. Senator Kelly checks a lot of boxes; white male, former astronaut, and a senator from another key state. But Mark Kelly has one big problem........ZZZZZZZ. He's boring. Not his fault but just is an aspect of his personality. I hope Kamala doesn't make the same mistake that Hillary Clinton made when she choose her vice president, Senator Tim Kaine of Virginia. Oh Hillary, you were so unlikeable and you choose a ZZZZZZZZ senator as your running mate? Please Kamala, DON'T choose Mark Kelly as your running mate. Go big, choose Pete!

These days I'm sleeping much better knowing that Kamala Harris will be the next president of the United States.

Next up, expand the Supreme Court to twelve judges to nullify the corruption that is now so apparent on the Supreme Court with the lopsided 6-3 conservative Republican majority who are focused on taking our hard fought freedoms away.

It's not written in stone or the Constitution that there only be nine Supreme Court justices. There are 13 appellate courts that sit below the U.S. Supreme Court. There are 94 federal judicial districts that are organized in 12 regional circuits, each of which has a court of appeals. Time to update the Supreme Court and end the corruption so clearly displayed by Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.

The 78 Year Old Criminal

We all know who the 78 year old criminal is. Yes, it's Donald J. Trump, former president of the United States.

As you heard The 78 Year Old Criminal is running again for president of the United States.

This is how Trump will be referred to for the next one hundred and three days until the presidential election on November 5, 2024.

The stupidest and laziest person ever to be elected president of the United States has already started with his racist attacks on the presumed Democratic candidate Kamala Harris.

Kamala (and notice how Trump and the Republicans deliberately mispronounce her name) isn't taking his bullying and lies. She's fighting back by calling Trump what he is, a 78 year old criminal. Yes, Kamala Harris, the presumed Democratic candidate for president of the United States is running again a 78 year old criminal. Let that sink in MAGA faithful.

It's the truth.

Deal with it.

A Good Day, No a "GREAT DAY!

Today was a GREAT DAY! Not only did I get my driving privileges back (YAAAA!), I'm enthused again about the presidential election.

As I said in my previous blog posts Kamala will be a great presidential candidate. Just listen to her speech today at the Democratic campaign headquarters in Wilmington. I especially like the part of her speech that she brought the case to the convicted felon, rapist and fraudster Donald Trump. She articulated the difference between her and Trump, something Joe Biden was unable to do. What I've said all along, it's COMMUNICATION.

National Equality March Washington DC 2009

On this Fourth of July, I was in a quandary what to write about first.

Of course anyone who is following American politics knows that a convicted felon (Trump) is running for president. He has promised to be a "Dictator on day one." Take him at his word. One of the few true statements that Trump has made.

You also know that the Democratic candidate for president, Joe Biden, is too old to run for president. He demonstrated that clearly at the presidential debate. There is no getting around it, Joe Biden IS TO OLD.  He cannot communicate effectively, and to run and be president that person has to be able to communicate. Joe Biden cannot communicate now. That debate was painful to watch.

Neither one of these candidates, Trump or Biden, should be running for president. But they will and I am very worried about where our country is going.
Very worried.

Thus I harkened back to the "good old day" when I participated in one of my few demonstrations for gay rights.

I attended the first equality march in Washington D.C. in 1979. Unfortunately I do not have any pictures of that march that I attended. I was going to take my camera but decided not to because I was fairly certain that I would be arrested and my camera destroyed. That didn't happen and I've regretted ever since I didn't take my camera with me. God knows I take my camera with me just about every other place I've attended. An opportunity missed. However, I have vivid memories of that march. Those were tense times.

When my friend Bob C. asked me to go with him to the 30th Anniversary March for Equality in Washington D.C. I readily accepted. This time I had my camera with me. And I took plenty of pictures, some of which are included in the video slide show that I prepared and posted at the beginning of this blog post.

This slideshow reminds me of the freedoms we sometimes take for granted in our country, the good old USA. Those freedoms are on the chopping block now if Trump and his traitorous enablers (including the corrupt Supreme Court) succeed in putting this convicted felon back in office.

God help us is that happens.

Happy Fourth of July everyone, I hope we can celebrate it again next year with our freedoms intact.

My Presidential Prediction

Mayor Pete Buttigieg, Democratic presidential candidate

I predict the May Pete Buttigieg will be the next Democratic presidential candidate.

I also predict that Mayor Pete will be the next president.

Now of course my second statement is perhaps more wishful thinking that what is actually going to happen but I can dream can't I?

Just imagine a fresh new face as president of the United States?

Joe Biden?  Even though I am a resident of Uncle Joe's home state of Delaware and was born in the same state, Pennsylvania, a Biden, I cannot support him.  Why?  Because he's too old.  Yes, he's as old as I am.  A more important reason is that he is . . . . . boring. He just doesn't excite.  Sure, maybe he is the candidate that has the best chance of defeating Trump for the presidency, assuming Trump isn't impeached and removed from the presidency before next year which, remote as the possibility seems, could happen if the Senate Republicans decide to do the right thing by the country and obey their Constitutional oath of office rather than their own political interests.

Elizabeth Warren?  I like her and think she would make a great president but there is still a load of misogyny in this country. Other countries can elect a woman president but not our country. Remember, there is a hard core forty percent who will support Trump no matter what even if he does shoot someone in broad daylight on Fifth Avenue (they would blame Obama or Hillary).

The other Democratic presidential candidates (Harris, Castro, Klobuchar, Steyer (who?), Bennett, Yang and Corey Booker (those eyes!), it's not working folks. Save your money and withdraw like Beto O'Rourke did today.

I've heard rumors that Hillary is considering a run.  Oh please!

I can see it now, Mayor Pete at a G-7 summit with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and French president Emmanuel Macron. What a refreshing change from that corrupt orange faced criminal that now occupies the office of the president of the United States.

One can hope.

A Crises in American Democracy

Regular readers of my blog have probably noticed that I haven't been posting regularly.  There isn't a reason why I haven't been posting.

I have this impending sense of something is drastically wrong in this country.

Yes, Donald Trump won the presidency and Hillary Clinton lost. But this feeling I have is more than just "Hillary lost and Trump won." I have this feeling that a foreign power interfered in our democratic process.

We all know who that foreign power is, Russia.

I'm going to try and make this post concise, which I am finding very hard to do.

After the election Donald Trump had a chance to bring this country together. But what has he done?  He has been consistent in defending Russian president Putin and the Russians.  This is the only area he has been consistent.

There are so many reasons to state about Trump as to why he is unqualified to be president. From his refusal to release his tax returns to his bragging about sexual assault on women. But his consistent refusal to recognize that Russia interfered in our election should concern all of us.

Today, John Lewis, the civil rights icon said what many of us think.  He said he didn't view Donald Trump as a legitimate president. I agree.

I've had this sinking feeling for quite a while now.  This sense of impending doom.  Not just because the Democratic presidential candidate lost but because I have this feeling that something is wrong. More than just losing the vote, which I think the votes were accurate. I think there was a genuine dislike of Hillary Clinton and that she was the wrong candidate and the wrong time.  I think there was a genuine desire for change from many voters.  I know myself I felt the same way.  In fact I still feel the same way.  I want things "shaken up" but as I got to know more about Trump I realized that he was just a charlatan, a con man who recognized an opportunity and took advantage of it.

This story isn't over folks.  I fear for myself, my fellow citizens and the world.  We are entering dangerous times folks.

Thanksgiving 2016

Me and Bill yesterday at our neighbors' house - she may have voted for Trump but she still welcomes these two old gay guys proving there is still hope for the future in spite of the Trump presidency

Good morning folks on this wonderful Thanksgiving Day 2016!

Now I am tempted to say What do we have to be thankful about after this election? Well, as depressing as the results of the presidential election (I still can't get used to the term "President Trump"), I feel we have much to be thankful for.

Take for instance the photo at the beginning of this blog post.  It was taken yesterday at our neighbors' home by a reverent Trump supporter (and a Obama/Hillary Hater).  Yes, we can have our political differences but we can still be friends, at least with some of those "basket of irredeemable deplorables".  Oh sure, I can't go back to where my father was born and spent the first nine years of his life in those western North Carolina Mountains bordering on Tennessee.  That was and still is hillbilly country.  Pristine white with primitive Baptist churches that preach the tenants of Christianity but totally exclude minorities of any kind, including this gay man.  But I can live in our house in this neighborhood without fear of bodily harm, threats or bullying like I experienced the last time I visited my father's birthplace. That photo was taken by a Trump supporter.  And you see we're smiling.  Not because Trump was elected president but because Bill and I are still welcomed in our neighbors' house despite our political differences.

I have one very good blogger friend (he knows who he is) who (and this is putting it gently) not a fan of either Obama or Hillary. Quite frankly I wasn't a "fan" either but considering the alternative (Romney or Trump), I choose the more rational choice.

I'll admit it folks, this Thanksgiving I fear what our country is in for the next four years.  I don't mean to go on a political rant here but we do have a totally unqualified person as president elect.  Right now he's rewarding his cronies and sycophants with top government positions. He is blatantly flouting conflict of interest norms by continuing to run his personal business empire even as he struts around with his new  found power.  And here is the really sad part, the Republicans will do nothing to stop him as Trump blatantly ignores standards of decently in decorum that we in this country have always taken for granted.

Thus, as I sit here at my computer listening to my Bose radio this morning in my little corner of the world, on the eastern coast of the United States in Delaware, one of the states that voted for the Democratic candidate (although my county where I live did not vote for Hillary but voted for Trump), I will appreciate what I have.  A comfortable home that is paid for. A loving and stable relationship with Bill (my life partner of fifty-two years in the photo).  A few good friends who are still alive.  Relative good health (my arthritis is catching up with me).

I have enough to eat.

I can pay all my bills.

I'm not in debt.

I'm not too ugly (yet, but I'm getting there, age does catch up with one)

Yes folks, I give thanks for this day and all the days I am privileged to live in the best country in the world.  Even though the days ahead are fraught with danger with the impending Trump presidency, I still have hope that some politicians will not be intimidated nor so selfish that they will keep Trump and his deplorables in check.

Hope is all we have now.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving folks!

Hiatus

Me, a bit beat up after the presidential election

Hi folks!  I'm on a bit of a hiatus here.  Yesterday I just returned from a wonderful week's stay in Philadelphia.  Except for another fall, of which I will write about later, I had a fabulous time.

Right now I'm catching up on doctor's appointments for both me and Bill and coordinating Bill's cataract surgery.

I'm not sure how much I'm going to write about the impending Trump presidency.  I'm tempted not to say anything at all and just sit back and what the chaos that surely will happen now that the Hillary Haters have "won."  Just one comment, imagine what Trump and his supporters would be saying now if they lost the electoral college vote and yet won the popular vote.  Yeah, just imagine.

In the meantime, I'm not even going to pray for this country.  The Trump supporters got exactly what they wanted.  Now let them make America great again.  They have made their choice and when this country is in the ditch again, like after the Bush presidency, they have no one to blame but themselves.  It's just a shame the rest of us have to endure this nightmare.

Proud To Be An American

Me, third in line to vote this morning!

That day is finally here!

I felt like a nine year old kid trying to go to sleep on Christmas Eve.  However, I did manage to go to sleep.  Thankfully I didn't have any nightmares like too often I was having the past several weeks.

I woke up this morning at 5:05 AM, ready to vote.  I checked my iPhone for any over night  news.  All clear.

I got up, hit the bathroom, then told Bill to get ready.  We're leaving so I can be the first in line to vote.

I have about a four mile drive to Cape Henlopen High School where I vote.

This morning was a beautiful, bright, clear, brisk autumn day. A perfect day for voting!

I arrived at the parking lot of the high school at approximately 6:25 AM.  I saw one person in line already.  The polls open at 7:00 AM.

One person was in line already as I arrived this morning at Cape Henlopen High School to vote.

I approached the line and I saw another voter arriving at the same time.  I motioned for him to go ahead of me.  I didn't mind being third in line.

Me with the two other guys ahead of me in line this morning

I said "Good morning!" to him.  We began a non-political conversation.  God forbid if he was a Trump supporter and I would have to stand in line with him with THAT tension. Neither one of us gave an indication of how we would vote.

I found out that a he, like me, is also am Army veteran.  He was in the Army from 1957 to 1960.  I was in the Army from 1960 to 1963.  As is usual with old Army vets, we exchanged war stories.

Before long we looked behind us and lo and behold, check out THAT line.

Long line to vote early this morning

Seven AM arrived and the doors to the Cape Henlopen High school were opened.

The poll workers were all in place. Some of them were a bit disorganized but I could see that they had staffed for a busy day.  Being a former poll worker myself (when I lived in Pennsylvania) I knew they were in for a long day.

I approached the table where I could sign in.  I showed my voter registration card and signed in.  I thanked the lady who had be sign the book for volunteering her time.

I walked to my private voting booth.  I had read in the newspaper the night before that the voter commission STRONGLY recommends against taking selfies in the voting booth.  Why, I don't know other than some local bureaucrat exercising their power.  You can take  your kids in the voting booth with you, service pets but take a selfie?  Strongly discouraged.  I took a selfie anyway, a bit blurred because I was afraid of being caught.

My, quick blurry picture of me in my voting "booth"

Just as I was about to take my selfie one of the poll workers pulled the curtain aside (I thought I was caught!) and asked me if the light was on my voting machine.  It wasn't.  She turned in on.  I took a gander at my choices.  I tried not to look at the name Trump and Pence because I wince whenever I see or hear those names.

I was going to split my ticket because I like the local Republican representative to the state legislature but decided not to take a chance and accidentally vote for Trump/Pence and voted straight Democrat.  Can't go wrong there can I?

Straight Democratic folks! Dump the Trump!

Then I exited the flimsy curtains of my voting booth or stand or whatever they call it.  I was looking for my "I VOTED!" sticker.  The poll workers around me still weren't organized but they were trying.  I'm sure now they have their routine down pat but they didn't this morning.  I finally got my "I VOTED!" sticker, which was plastered on my jacket.  It stays there all this week, even throughout my trip to Philly tomorrow to celebrate the election of Hillary Clinton, the first woman president in the history of the United States!

Me happily standing in line waiting to exercise my right to vote - proud to be an American!

At eleven this morning I have to take Bill down to his eye doctor to finalize the paperwork for his cataract surgery in December.

Then the rest of this day I'm going to be sitting at this computer, with my TV on in the background, listening to the election results.  I'll probably be up late tonight but that's okay.

Tomorrow at 9 AM my neighbor stops by and takes me to Philly.  He's also a Hillary supporter.  We'll have a lot to talk about for the 2 1/2 hour ride to Philly.

Yes folks, today I am proud to be an American.  I voted.

Want a Reason to Vote?

Trump's proposed cabinet choices

Want a good reason to vote for Hillary Clinton tomorrow?  Check out Donald Trump's proposed cabinet choices!  If this doesn't scare the bejesus out of you, nothing will.

Go vote!

I feel like a kid the on Christmas Eve.  Full of excitement of expectations of a positive result from this presidential election.

I go to work today.  Tomorrow I will get up early and go down to Henlopen High School to register my vote for a straight Democratic ticket.  Note I didn't say "Democrat" ticket but DEMOCRATIC ticket.

Then (barring any jarring surprises) Hillary Clinton will elected president and Donald Trump will be forever branded for the loser that he is.
