Time Flies

Pat and Ron at the Santa Monica Pier, California January 17, 2016

It's amazing how time flies.

Here is a selfie I took of me and Pat at the Santa Monica Pier during our visit to California in January of 2016.

That was ten years ago.

I'm pretty sure there won't be a picture of us ten years from now. If there is, we will be 87 and 94 years old respectively. That's probably a picture you don't want to see.

Los Angeles & West Hollywood Trip 2015

Good Sunday morning everyone!

I've finally figured how to easily transfer my Memory videos from my iPhone to my You Tube account. I have literally thousands of photos that can easily converted into short memory videos like this that I'm showing now. In the past I've struggled how to transfer those videos to my You Tube account. Those videos I was working from my iMac computer.

This morning, while checking my iPhone this Memory video popped up. It was from and trip Pat and I made ten years ago (that long ago?) to West Hollywood, California. I had just met Pat two years earlier in Lewes, Delaware when he found my blog and left a comment.

After we got to know each other and wanted to spend time together, we decided to get together four times a year (quarterly). One of those times was a trip to West Hollywood in California. The other trips were to Canada and Philadelphia. We no longer go to West Hollywood because of that lady (Nadege) that we're seated with in one of the photos of this video. She suggested to us to visit Palm Springs for Modernism Week.  We did the following year and the rest is history. Once we visited Palm Springs, we felt right at home. In the ensuing years when we take our annual "California Trip" we go directly to Palm Springs. In fact the following two years after this video we split out time, half in West Hollywood and half in Palm Springs. By the way, the dark haired fellow at the beginning of this video is Tony of Silver Lake. Another blogger we used to visit during our annual West Hollywood trips. But I digress.

These days I don't know if I'll every make any more trips to California because of my increasing mobility problems and reduced household income. But I am so glad I have all these pictures and videos of my previous trips so I can relieve those wonderful trips. And Pat is just about the best companion I could ever have on these trips. Unlike ALL my previous trips in my earlier life, including some with Bill (he didn't like to take trips, he preferred to stay at home), Pat stayed with me. Friends who went with me on my earlier trips always hooked up with somebody once we reached our destination and I didn't see them again until it was time to come home. I always envied others that I would see with their friends on those trips that stayed together and enjoyed each other's company. I wasn't so lucky. I guess that's what happens when I have friends who are horny and having sex with strangers was their Number One Priority.

So now you my faithful readers (twenty years this blog has been chugging along), you can expect to see more videos like this. I have to get this personal history of mine before I exit this life. Also, I love looking at these videos because it brings back fond memories of the wonderful times I've had on those trips with Pat. And.......continue to do so. We're not done yet folks. Getting married, hopefully later this summer or early fall will be the ultimate memory video.

Meeting Bruce Vilanch

I'm back folks!  This is a surreptitious video my Canadian Travel Buddy Pat took of me meeting the American comedian Bruch Vilanch at the Palm Springs airport. We were both waiting for our flights. You may remember Bruce from his four year stint on "Hollywood Squares" after Paul Lynde left. Yes, Bruce was the center square. No, I didn't ask for an autograph or a selfie.  Just introduced myself and greeted Bruce and asked him why he wasn't on TV more often. He joked "You should speak to my agent!"

Bruce Vilnach - American Comedian and Palm Springs vacationer just like me!

I'm be back blogging soon folks. Just trying to get back to my regular routine. My apologies for my absence from my blog the past two weeks. So busy, just didn't have time to blog, but I did have a great time.  Only downside is that I fell again and slightly injured my arm which still hurts. I have to get past that. I would like to manage one of my quarterly adventures and not fall down and injure myself.  Such is the status of my life now as an old man who has trouble walking.  Could be worse.

Again, a fabulous two weeks in Palm Springs, I took many videos and photos which I will share soon. The best time of my life folks, the absolute best time!

Green Earth Restaurant Pasadena, California 2019

Every year when Pat and I visit California for our annual winter holiday, we make sure to visit the Green Earth restaurant in Pasadena, California.

The Green Earth restaurant, as the title would indicate, is a vegetarian restaurant. Pat wanted to visit this restaurant because it is the sister restaurant (run by the same Vietnamese family) of the Green Earth restaurant in Tornonto, Canada, Pat's former home (Pat now lives in Hamilton, Ontario).

Thuoung U - The Green Earth Restaurant

Our host at the Green Earth restaurant in Pasadena is Thuoung U, a Vietnamese immigrant.  I remember the first time I asked him his last name and he said "U".  I said "How do you spell your last name?"  He said "U".  Pen ready, I said "What is the rest of it?"  He said, "That's it, just 'U'".  Pretty cool eh?

Pasadena is a short drive mileage wise from our stay in West Hollywood but long traffic wise. It is worth the trip though. Pasadena is a beautiful town.  Neat and clean.

Pat and I always sit at the same booth, which has always been available when we drop in unannounced. We're always receive a friendly welcome by Thuoung.

Pat and me at our booth at the Green Earth Restaurant - I don't know what Pat was doing - by the way we don't sit next to each other, I sit across from pat at the table, we just posed this way for the picture which probably discombulated Pat

The menu changes every year.  We look forward to trying new vegetarian entrees. This year was no exception.

Our vegan dishes at the Green Earth Restaurant - the one with tofu chunks are Pat's - I don't like tofu, that's how I knew the difference

I don't remember the names of these entrees but they were delicious. And we always top off our meal with a slice of vegan cheesecake which we share.

Vegan cheesecake, which I like better than regular cheesecake - I don't have that heavy feeling in my stomach after I eat it, very tasty!

This blog post just another little slice of our annual California adventure. Sad to say we probably won't be visiting Thuoung next year.  We have decided to spend our whole two weeks in Palm Springs next year.  Maybe in 2021 we will return, hopefully.

Playing Pool at Hunters Bar in Palm Springs

During our stay in Palm Springs this past February Pat and I had a chance to play pool.

During my three year Army enlistment I often played pool in our dayroom at the various Army bases where I was stationed.  Over time I obtained some measure of skill at playing a pool.  Not that I'm a good pool player, I'm not but I do find playing pool very relaxing.

I tried playing golf (Chip and Put) back in the Sixties. That wasn't for me. Maybe miniature golf but I find playing golf very awkward.  Playing pool is more my style. I like the social aspect.

During our visit to Hunters bar (a gay bar in Palm Spings), which we went to for dancing and the pulsating music (videos of that in future blog postings) I noticed pool tables. During the weekends those tables are the platform for the male strippers/dancers but on the night we were there the pool tables were available for play.

This is a short video of that pleasant evening. Oh, Pat won most of the games as he does when we play games. But as I often say, we had fun. It's all about the experience folks. And on this night the music was pretty good too.

In Palm Springs

Me and Pat yesterday after The Rains ceased. Nice place this Palm Springs, surrounded by mountains. I love this place!!

Hey folks! Sorry for the absence from my blog.

We're in Palm Springs now.

We arrived here this past Wednesday after having arrived in Los Angeles last Sunday.  We stayed three days in LA (our West Hollywood Airbnb) before leaving for Palm Springs.

First day in Palm Springs we were trapped in a monsoon deluge. Flooding everywhere. I heard that Palm Springs got 64% of their annual rainfall on Thursday.

Yesterday we were finally able to get out and enjoy the delights of this desert oasis.

We're eating good vegan food at three different vegan friendly restaurants.

Yesterday we experienced some Modernism Week exhibits.

And last night. Ah, last night. I talked Pat into going to a gay/dance bar called Hunters which is located just around the corner of the VRBO condo which we rented for our week's stay in Palm Springs. By the way, this condo is the best we've ever stayed in.  We will definitely be back here next year.

Last night at Hunters has fabulous. I took videos (as you know I would) and will be posting them when I return home to Delaware next week. For now photos will have to do.

Right now I'm waiting for Pat to wake up so we can have breakfast at John's restaurant on this beautiful sunny Saturday morning in this desert oasis Heaven on earth called Palm Springs.

Have a great day everyone!

By the way, we saw Frank Sinatra's former home yesterday. I'm sure the present owners were thrilled I was outside the gates taking a video. Tourists!

California Here We Come 2019

"Frank", my little mascot bear is ready to go with me on our trip to California!

One more day folks to take off from Philly International to Los Angeles.

As always with trips like this there is some (a lot actually) anxiety on my part. I was just talking to Pat on FaceTime and he says he is also experiencing anxiety prior to takeoff.

This year I'm meeting Pat in Los Angeles. The last two years he flew to Philadelphia and we met up there and flew out together to Los Angeles. But this year Pat found he could get a much more economical flight from Toronto, bypassing Philadelphia.  Thus this year I will be flying out alone from Philly.  I'll miss that six hour flight with Pat sitting next to me but I'll have my Bose cordless headset with me. Remember last year I had to endure the whining of a little boy, seated in a seat right behind me, on my way out to LA. For my flight back I had a little girl crying all the way. I don't blame the kids, after all a six hour flight is a long time for restless kids, but I just can't endure six hours of that unique kind of torture.

Pat's flight is a two parter. He flies into Denver, has a layover then takes another plane to LA.  Or is it he flies to Texas then switches planes?  I forget now.  I have a direct flight, which I prefer.

This year I'm taking my big suitcase which I have to check in, which I'm not thrilled about.  The past two years I've packed everything in a carryon suitcase but that's just too much for me with my unique sartorial needs. Two years ago, when Pat and I were in Palm Springs for the Spo/Someone nuptials, I wore my giraffe shirt the whole trip.  I posted frequently to Facebook.  My neighbor Barbara commented "Is that the only shirt you have?"  Oh the shame.  Anyone who knows me knows I have a LOT of shirts. And it is a shame not to take a greater selection of my shirts for this annual opportunity to show off my taste in elderly cool gentleman attire.

The cost for me checking in a bag is $25 which doesn't concern me. What does concern me is the loss of my luggage.  Also standing in line to check in my bag.  But when I take my smaller suitcase, frequently when I board the plane I cannot find any overhead space.  Last time I had to put my carryon bag quite a few seats behind where I was seated. A six of one, half a dozen of another situation.

I had a little bump in my two hour ride to the airport from the lower depths of Delaware where I reside.  My regular ride informed me he couldn't take me because he's undergoing medical treatment (radiation) and probably wouldn't be up to that long trip.  My back up ride couldn't take me  either, church obligation that Sunday. He will pick me up though. I had to ask my friends Mike and Bob to take me.  They refuse to take any payment form me, which makes me feel guilty.  When I lived in Philly a trip to the airport was a $5.00 thirty minute ride on the shuttle train from center city Philly to the airport.  Not here in Lower Slower though, not in my lifetime it seems.

One more day folks!  Exciting times. The thought has entered my mind this may be my last trip to California during my lifetime. I hope not. I am so looking forward to a glorious two weeks in sunny California. One week in Los Angeles (West Hollywood) and one week in Palm Springs.

I hope to keep blogging while I'm in California but the days always seem to go by so fast. Best time of my life folks!

California In Two Weeks!

Pat and me at the King Street Cafe in West Hollywood, California February 2018 - we're going back to that fresh orange juice!!

The Trump Shutdown ended today. Thank goodness that this nightmare will end for those 800,000 plus government workers and contractors ends.  A shutdown that was totally unnecessary. Just another Trump con based on a lie.

This day began fine with the news of the arrest of Roger Stone, one of the many traitors that is being revealed to our country that association with the number one traitor Trump.  Stone was arrested at his palatial Florida home at dawn in the morning. The FBI agents who arrested him haven't been paid in thirty-five days.  It was reported that one of the FBI agents said to Stone "This one is one the house."  Now that may be a fabrication ("fabrication" a fancy word for a lie) but wouldn't that a be a sweet good morning to such a sleaze ball like Stone?

My concern with the Trump Shutdown is much less important but still it was impacting my life. My flight is scheduled to depart Philadelphia Sunday morning February 10th.  I was not only fearing an hours long wait in the TSA line but a dangerous flight to Los Angeles. Hopefully I can put those fears behind me now, as can many millions of other travelers.

I hate to leave on a trip like my California holiday with all these unsettled items on my agenda. Looks like my life here is settling down.

Monday I take Bill for his follow-up appointment with his VA doctor for his semi-annual review of his labs.

On the 30th a company comes by to fix our basement leak which we noted is still leaking during our heavy rain yesterday.

I have my temporary crown.  My dental office said they hope to get my permanent crown in on February 8th, before I leave for my California holiday.

My car has new tires, new brake pads and an oil change.  I had a scare last night when leaving from work at the hotel.  Both of my yellow engine lights came on my dashboard.  I hate that.  I pulled over to the side of the road, turned off my engine, counted to ten and turned on my engine again. The check engine light went away, thank goodness!

Now I enter the two week approach to my much looked forward to annual winter excursion to Los Angeles and Palm Springs.  Again I have to decided what clothes to wear.  Yes, I still don't have that down yet.  I always take more clothes out that I need. Last year I even mailed some back home.  Hopefully I won't have to do that this year.

Looking forward to a nice quiet weekend here at Casa Tipton-Kelly. Hope your weekend is peaceful too.

Three Big Hits and Other Thoughts

This past week I've taken three big financial hits.

Last week my anchor crown broke. Visit to the dentist Monday. Big bill. $$$$$$$$

Yesterday I replaced the tires and brake pads on my car.  Big bill. $$$$$$

On the 30th of this month I'm having the leak in our basement wall repaired.  Big bill. $$$$$$$

Thank goodness I've already paid for my flight and accommodations in California.  I paid those last year when I made the reservations.

But you know folks, even though I'm whining about my recent spate of big bills, these are only "first world problems."  At least I have a steady source of money flowing into our household.  Social security, pension payments and income from my part-time job at the hotel.  I feel so bad for those government workers, Coast Guard, TSA and contractors who are receiving NO MONEY as a result of Trump's hostage taking to fulfill a campaign promise to his rabid supporters to build a wall that he said Mexico would pay for.  Can't give in to hostage takers like Trump because he'll just do it again. For the first time in his life the lifetime criminal Trump is faced with not getting his way by bullying and intimidation. His lifetime of criminality will be exposed soon. But here I go on a rant again (feels so good).

Back to life here at Casa Tipton-Kelly.  My big toe nail is slowly coming back.  Nice to have a new toenail. I'm going to lose my other toenail.  Two new toenails! Would like to have a new body and face.  I'm falling apart. Maybe in my next life!  You know the problem with youth?  When you have that fabulous, young, springy body and good looks you're too stupid to appreciate it.  As you get older and wiser, your body and looks let you down.  I'm a lot wiser now (still dumb in other areas) but my body (and looks) are failing me now. I guess I just have to accept I'm a washed up has been.  Hey! There I go on another rant.

My departure date (February 10th) is quickly approaching. So looking forward to our (me and Pat) annual adventure in sunny California.  Two weeks folks! A week in West Hollywood and a week in Palm Springs.  Hopefully I won't injure my self during this jaunt.  I will tip toe through the tulips in La La Land very carefully.

More California Holiday 2018 Videos

Oh how I love posting these videos that my iMac Photo program provides me.

Of course I realize that for some, if not many of my regular blog readers, these blog postings may not be the most insightful and thought provoking posts I have made in my thirteen years of blog posting, but I find these posting probably the most fun.

To me life is all about enjoying what little time we have on this earth without the pain and strife and stress of every day living. Once a year my good buddy Pat and I embark for our annual California Holiday.  We spend a week in West Hollywood, go to "The Price is Right" show, wander around Hollywood and Vine, eat at the Veggie Grill at 7800 Sunset Boulevard (and by the way have YET to spot a celebrity), just to get away from the gray monochrome winter cold of our respective homes in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and Milton, Delaware.

Each year it's getting a little harder for me to get around because of my enroaching arthritis that stiffens my joints from my neck to my back to my knees. But I make the trip and soak in the welcoming, warm sunshine of California.

Looking at these video complications of my photos and videos that Apple has been so kind to provide me lets me relive those glorious two weeks in California.

More videos are on the way!

California Holiday 2018

More fun videos folks! This one is of me and Pat in California this past February. We spend a week in West Hollywood and then a week in Palm Springs.

Every year for the past three years Pat and I visit West Hollywood. I write for tickets to "The Price is Right". Even though we haven't been called to "come on down!" we still have a fun time. The folks at "The Price is Right" make sure that all three-hundred and fifty members of the audience has a good time, and we do folks. And who knows, maybe next year one of us will be called to "come on down!" and win a lot of money.

Last year, at the urging of our friend Nadege, we visited Palm Springs while in California. We immediately fell in love with Palm Springs. I can understand why Palm Springs is so popular with the starts and elite of Hollywood as well as regular folk. I always thought that Palm Springs was only for the rich but there is room for all.  Unlike Camp Rehoboth here which always proclaims Rehoboth is "room for all" when in reality it is only room for a closed clique of gay men and women mostly from the Washington DC area. Anyone else they ignore and I know from personal experience.  But I digress into negativity.  When we're in Palm Springs and California, all is well and we both feel very welcome and without the need to send in membership fees.

I've seriously thought of maybe moving permanently to Palm Springs but for now I do love our home here in Delaware.  Sure, it's a little rough in the summertime when the traffic on Route One makes it difficult to get out of our development but our acre of land is a welcome oasis of peace and contentment. And we live in a neighborhood of wonderful and caring neighbors, all straight by the way and none of that exclusive clique experience from the Rehoboth Beach gay community. But  one never knows what the future will bring. I'm open to all possibilities folks.  Each day as my movements become more restricted by my gradual arthritis, I may not have a choice.

Have a great day folks!

"the Price is Right!" Appearance

There it is! Yesterday, right at the beginning of the show, as the camera panned the audience of "The Price is Right!", there we were!  Me and Pat were in the back row, with black T-shirts, clapping it up as directed.

This is our fourth appearance in the audience. Have yet to be called to "Come on down!" but we know people who were.  Folks that we talked to in line. One lady even won a car!

Even though we weren't called to join Drew Carey on stage, we still have a great time. Attending a taping of "The Price is Right" is like attending a party.  The staff of the show has the four hour wait in line seem like a tenth of that time. They keep us entertained. And we get to met new friends while waiting in the line.

It's all good folks. Maybe next year we'll be called. One thing is for sure, we'll be there again in the audience.

There is Pat in the back row with his arms raised above his head. I am to Pat's left.

"The Price is Right!"

Me and Pat practicing wining! We're ready!

Just a reminder folks, tomorrow is the day Pat and I will appear in the audience on "The Price is Right!"

Pat and I taped the show when we were in California last February during our annual Get Away From The Cold Weather vacation.

This was our four taping of "The Price is Right!" Last year we attended two shows, they were short of an audience for the second show and they asked for volunteers. We volunteered.

We have yet to be called to "Come on down!" but we know people who have been called.  Two years in a row people we talked to right next to us in line were called to "Come on down!"  I doubt if we'll ever be called but it attending the show is a lot of fun. The staff at "The Price is Right" have a such a smooth operation you hardly know you've been standing in line for four hours until they usher you in the building for the taping.

Oh I know we're being used like clapping seals in the audience but it's all good fun. With all that is going on in the world, what a nice interlude from the bad news and stresses of the day.

Look for us in the back row in black T-shirts. We always have custom made T-shirts when we attend the show, apparently to little avail. Maybe next year we'll just go in our street clothes. I'm pretty sure they determine who they call as a result of the interviews they take while we're waiting in line outside. Maybe Pat and I aren't that interesting. Or maybe they know I can't jump.  I was so hoping they would call Pat. That would be the highlight of my life, maybe next year.

Remember to watch for us tomorrow!

Spring Snow Storm

The last three weeks the East Coast has been hit with three Nor'easters in a row.  Here in Lower Slower (Sussex County, Delaware) we missed the snow of the first two Nor'easters. However, we just got the tail end of yesterday's Nor'easter.  Yes, more snow.

Folks, I'm getting where I hate snow. Pretty to look at from inside our comfortable and warm home, but to travel in it?  No way. Of course my big fear is falling and injuring myself. Then there is also the fear of an auto accident.

Palm Springs if looking better all the time folks. But I'm going to stay here as long as Bill and I are together. I would never subject Bill to another move.  Plus, I do love our home here and I am very comfortable. But I have to tell you folks, I am SO tired of snow. I can see where old folks like me seek warmer climes to spend our declining year. I don't need this dangerous snow. Brings back too many bad memories of when I fell on the ice two years ago and tore my quadricep muscle in my left leg.  I was out of commission for three months. Thank God Bill was here or else I would have ended up in a rehab center.

Yes folks, I have to get out of this danger.  This latest snow storm is just a reminder.

Me and Pat in Palm Springs last month, nary a snow flake in sight

Palm Springs, California Dream Home

Last year, during our stay in Palm Springs, both Pat and I fell in love with the Sol homes. With a price ranging from $700,000 (unfinished) to $1,000,000 (completely finished and upgraded), these dream homes was totally above of our income level.

Pat and I have dreamed wishfully of winning the lottery to have enough money to buy one of these units. Alas, we didn't win the lottery.

This video was taken by my during an early morning walk near where Pat and I stayed. Pat usually sleeps later than I do. In order not to disturb Pat I'll usually take a walk outside wherever we're staying until he gets up later.

Folks, there is nothing (so far) that I don't like about Palm Springs. Of course I haven't been there during the summer months and the (I hear) God awful heat. Pat and I may make a visit there this summer to check out his newly purchased condo and to see what Palm Springs is like in the summer.

In the meantime, I'll fantasize about winning the lottery and buying one of these fabulous units in Sol homes.

Reuniting With Tony D. In LA

One of the nice things about our annual trip to California is reuniting with friends.

This is the third year in a row we have reunited with Tony D.

This year we met Tony at the Veggie Grill on Sunset Boulevard, me and Pat's favorite place to eat while we're in West Hollywood.

While we were in Palm Springs, we reunited with Dr. Spo and his entourage, which I will write about in a future blog post.

Friends, a very important part of life. Friends, health, shelter, food and, of course sex. Well, maybe we can live without sex but the other four Pillars of Life, that makes life worth living.

Thank you for your friendship Tony.

The Price is Right! Part One

Me and Pat make believe whooping it up before a green screen. The Price is Right show takes these photos of every member of the audience. You an buy the photo for $20, which I do of course.

February 12th, was our fourth appearance at the taping of "The Price is Right" TV game show.

Again, we weren't called to "Come one down!" by George the announcer. But again, we had a lot of fun the four hours that we spent at the show, most of it in line.

This time I took videos of us standing in line outside. The previous shows I didn't take videos because you have to turn in your iPhones and cameras before you go into the studio. I didn't want to take that chance of losing my expensive iPhone. As it was, I still had to turn in my Apply watch.

This year I took my iPod to take pictures and videos while in line. One thing we always meet the nicest people in line from all parts of the country. This year was no exception. We met "Jen"  and her daughter "Jacquelyn" from Texas.

Me and Pat with new friends we met in line at "The Price is Right", Jen and Jacquelyn from Texas

In past years we've been good luck to folks we met in line. Both times the people we talked to were called to "come on down." Unfortunately for Jen and Jacquelyn they weren't called. I wish they were called.

Getting on The Price is Right show security is tighter than TSA getting on airplanes. Here is a show official passing out the forms we have to fill out before we can go on the show. All well organized.

Price is Right employee handing out release forms for all os us to fill out, that's Pat to the right of the picture and our friends Jen and Jacquelyn

Here is a few videos of the seeming chaos of the line of three hundred plus folks waiting to attend one of the two tapings a day of "The Price is Right".

I'll post more about "The Price is Right" on my next blog posting!

Back From California

I'm back!

We arrived yesterday afternoon at Philly International airport. No flight delays but I had the "baby noise" on my WHOLE six hour flight back. That's right folks, one the way out to California two weeks ago I had a little boy whining and crying the WHOLE six hours. On the way back I had a little girl doing her whole range of noises from baby talk ("da da") to whining and an occasional piercing scream that only little girls can do. I've including one short video of my experience here in this blog posting. Oh I know I won't gain many fans from my constant whining about the baby noise that I am trapped with on these flights, but man oh man, after enduring the stress of going to the TSA security checkpoints the LAST thing I needed to hear for six plus hours was baby noise. My version of Hell, sitting on one of those tight airline seats subjected to baby noise behind me for eternity.

I'm still getting settled here at home and I go to work today. But folks, the two week stay in California - GREAT!

Now to get those head phones to cancel the baby noise and put in my application for  TSA recheck, which I am told is well worth it even if I only use it a couple a times a year.

Talk about the MeToo movement, after going through the security checkpoint yesterday, I felt totally violated, especially after I was called back for a second pat down. And here I thought when you're over seventy-five years old you didn't have to remove your shoes, belt and dignity.

Much to tell about our stay in beautiful, sunny California. More to come!

In California!

Good morning folks! I've been in California the past ten days. Right now we"re staying at a perfectly lovely Airbnb accommodation in Palm Springs, California. Pat and I arrived in Los Angeles Sunday, February 11th. We stayed three days in an Airbnb accommodation in West Hollywood. The same one we stayed in last year. However, I won't be staying there again. We have a private bedroom but we have to share the common quarters. Although all the couples we have shared this accommodation with have been nice (also foreign), there is a lack of privacy. Here in Palm Springs we have total privacy which is what I prefer. Doesn't seem to bother Pat but it does me. We stayed three days in West Hollywood then come here last Thursday. We leave tomorrow back for the same accommodations in West Hollywood. We leave California this Sunday. While here in Palm Springs we met up with Dr. Spo and Someone and other friends. We had dinner out and had the guys over for Tea Time at our place here, which has fabulous views. Unfortunately I won't be about to post any photos of videos on this posting. But do not despair, I have many photos and videos that I will post when I return home to Delaware this Sunday. This holiday is coming to an end which is always sad. But I'm also glad to return home. Bill misses me and I miss him. In my next blog I have some good news. How's that for a cliff hanger? Have a great day!

California One Day Away!

My plant arrives at LAX in 2015 - I met Pat at the airport

One more day folks until we take the American Airlines flight out of Philadelphia for Los Angeles!

Getting nervous folks, as I always do when faced with catching a plane.

My friends Mike and Bob are taking me to Philly International Sunday morning for our 10:30 AM flight out of Philadelphia Sunday morning.

Tomorrow morning I'll review what I have packed in my carry on luggage. I have my list and I will be checking it multiple times.  Hopefully I won't forget anything but I always worry.

Pat and I on Sunset Boulevard in front of the famous Chateau Marmont Hotel

I don't have to worry about my airline ticket, I have that on my iPhone app. Still, just to be safe I print out a ticket to take with me.

My two main concerns catching my flight is that I'll have to go to the bathroom and how much hassle I have to go through airport security. Sometimes I breeze right though but several times I've been pulled aside for special scrutiny. What's that all about anyway?  Do I look like a terrorist? Do I act suspicious? Who knows why TSA singles out people like me. I thought my age (76) they would breeze me through security. Oh well, I'll find out this Sunday.

And the bathroom needs, that's always a worry at my age. When I have to "go," I have to "go." This was never a problem when I was younger but now,  there is no holding "it" in. Oh I know what's the big deal about going to the bathroom at the airport? I don't like to "go" in public place but sometimes I don't have choice. Yes, I have used the Walmart bathroom (quite nice by the way).

This is our (me and Pat) third year visiting California and Los Angeles, one week in West Hollywood and one week in Palm Springs.

Me and Pat at the famous Sunset Blvd looking for the location of "77 Sunset Strip" (we didn't find it) - 2015

Pat and I don't have anything specifically planned except for going to the taping of "The Price is Right" TV show on Tuesday February 14th. In Palm Springs we'll visit with Dr. Spo and Someone and other blogger friends.

Best time of my life now folks. Each year I am more crippled by arthritis but I'm managing. Pat is still getting over a bad cold. I have this phlegm in my throat I can't shake. But in spite of these nagging health issues we're still going. Adventure awaits us plus, and this is a BIG PLUS - warm weather!

I'll try to keep you all posted while we're in California, but can't guarantee daily updates but I'll do my best.
