In Palm Springs

Me and Pat yesterday after The Rains ceased. Nice place this Palm Springs, surrounded by mountains. I love this place!!

Hey folks! Sorry for the absence from my blog.

We're in Palm Springs now.

We arrived here this past Wednesday after having arrived in Los Angeles last Sunday.  We stayed three days in LA (our West Hollywood Airbnb) before leaving for Palm Springs.

First day in Palm Springs we were trapped in a monsoon deluge. Flooding everywhere. I heard that Palm Springs got 64% of their annual rainfall on Thursday.

Yesterday we were finally able to get out and enjoy the delights of this desert oasis.

We're eating good vegan food at three different vegan friendly restaurants.

Yesterday we experienced some Modernism Week exhibits.

And last night. Ah, last night. I talked Pat into going to a gay/dance bar called Hunters which is located just around the corner of the VRBO condo which we rented for our week's stay in Palm Springs. By the way, this condo is the best we've ever stayed in.  We will definitely be back here next year.

Last night at Hunters has fabulous. I took videos (as you know I would) and will be posting them when I return home to Delaware next week. For now photos will have to do.

Right now I'm waiting for Pat to wake up so we can have breakfast at John's restaurant on this beautiful sunny Saturday morning in this desert oasis Heaven on earth called Palm Springs.

Have a great day everyone!

By the way, we saw Frank Sinatra's former home yesterday. I'm sure the present owners were thrilled I was outside the gates taking a video. Tourists!

Great. Wonder around the Movie Colony if you want. Many of the gates on the houses
have intials on them say CG for Cary Grant of HL for Harold Lloyd or plaques saying
who live there. And if you are up for it go for a walk with the Front Runners
group they meet every morning except Sunday at 8AM at the Mizel senior center. Some
stop for a coffee aferwards at the Aspen Mills bakery across from the center.

I hope the weather is OK: it looks cold - a major disappointment

Keep having fun, I am looking forward to more pictures.

If the present tenants were annoyed, it serves them right for not expecting gawking tourists after purchasing an icon's former eyrie. Maybe that's why they purchased it in the first place.

Hello Ron and Pat,

Wild men on the loose.

I have a dear friend who lives in PS. He lived in a mid-century modern for years-El Rancho Vista Estates- He recently sold his place and moved down the street to Cathedral City on a golf course.

I know Hunters. I am not a bar person but I have stepped in the place a few times. Look up Lu Lu's or Trios. Nice mid century modern places to eat. If you like Mexican, try Rio Azul. Koffi-South Palm Springs on E Palm Canyon Drive is a great place for man watching and great coffee/tea and other hot/cold drinks. Palm Springs has lots of places to discover. Enjoy!!

Travel safe!!

We got to see a few famous homes. We also went to two presentations which was very interesting. We tried to see William Holden's former home but were prevented from doing so with a closed gate. Next year we plan to visit more famous homes.

Dr. Spo,
The weather in both LA and Palm Springs was wet and cold. Something we weren't expecting. I sent all my warm weather clothes home by UPS in a box, no need for them. In fact the weather wasn't that much different from the cold and wet weather we're having here in Delaware now. I think you and your entourage lucked out by arriving a week later than we did. You got the good weather!

Thanks for the tips. Unfortunately I read your comments after I returned from Palm Springs. We will take your advice for our two week stay in Palm Springs next year.

Thanks for your good wishes!

Dr. Spo,
I had a good trip out and back, first time in five years no delays or crying babies. I don't expect that to happen again though.
