Hiatus

Me, a bit beat up after the presidential election

Hi folks!  I'm on a bit of a hiatus here.  Yesterday I just returned from a wonderful week's stay in Philadelphia.  Except for another fall, of which I will write about later, I had a fabulous time.

Right now I'm catching up on doctor's appointments for both me and Bill and coordinating Bill's cataract surgery.

I'm not sure how much I'm going to write about the impending Trump presidency.  I'm tempted not to say anything at all and just sit back and what the chaos that surely will happen now that the Hillary Haters have "won."  Just one comment, imagine what Trump and his supporters would be saying now if they lost the electoral college vote and yet won the popular vote.  Yeah, just imagine.

In the meantime, I'm not even going to pray for this country.  The Trump supporters got exactly what they wanted.  Now let them make America great again.  They have made their choice and when this country is in the ditch again, like after the Bush presidency, they have no one to blame but themselves.  It's just a shame the rest of us have to endure this nightmare.

  1. Oh, my! I hope you're recovering well from the fall. Regarding Trump--too bad you and Bill couldn't bunk with Pat for the next four years. ;)

    1. Bea,
Thanks for the good wishes regarding my fall. Can't do much about Trump though for the next four years. One thing for sure, won't be boring.

    1. Andy,
Thanks. I have recovered. The scabs are gone and I look "normal" again. Not scaring people with his bloodied visage. I had a close call though. I have to be very careful when I walk. I can't take too many more of these falls.

  3. Oh my! I hope this was an accident. You have been missed as misery loves company.

    1. Jimmy,
Yes, it was an accident. I tripped on torn up and repaired roadway as I was crossing the street with Pat to our suite in the co-op on the other side of the street. I almost made it before I took my tumble. I'm better now but that was the hardest I've ever hit my head in my life. What an experience.

    1. Thanks Tommy. I have recovered from my fall (face plant) in the street. All those years I lived and walked those streets in Philly and I never fell once and now I'm stumbling all the time. Old man here. I have to be much more careful.

  5. Was wondering why you'd gone silent on us, Ron. I mused that perhaps the unexpectedness of last week's 'event' had rendered you speechless - but (yikes!) I can now see the evidence for at least part of your temporary absence. Now I do wonder if they could in any way have been related, though probably not. Anyway, I trust that your Philly stay helped to lift at least some of the ensuing gloom - and we look forward to hearing your expanded thoughts on the subject of Mr D.T.Rump in due course.

    1. Ray,
I thought of you immediately when I did my face plant in that macadamed road. The top of my forehead to the brunt of the fall. I could just as easily knocked out my teeth if I had hit lower. We have to be so much more careful walking, don't we?
Our stay in Philly was fabulous. Pat is, of course, always great company and our host Don McKenzie was wonderful as usual. And both Pat and I like roaming around Philly. We found a couple of new restaurants we like. We'll be back in the Spring. Next trip, Los Angeles!

    1. Thank you David. I hope to get up to speed this week. I'm so far behind in my blog reading and even my blog posting. Doesn't take much to fall behind.

  7. Ron, what a nasty fall! I'm truly sorry - but at least it's encouraging to know that you had a great time in Philly. Please take care.

    1. Jon,
That was a nasty fall I took. I'll never forget my shock hen my forehead hit that black, rough macadam road. BANG! Thank goodness I didn't break my nose or knock my teeth out. Good thing Pat was with me to stop the traffic or else I would have been run over. Always an adventure. But yes, we did have a fabulous time in Philly. We're gong back in the spring, Memorial Day week. Next trip, LA! Yes!

    1. Melissa,
Thanks for you good wishes. Yes, it was a bad fall but fortunately I didn't do any permanent damage. I could have easily broken my nose of knocked my teeth out. My forehead took the brunt of the fall. Hardest I've ever banged my forehead. I have to be much more careful walking. Never thought about walking problems when I was younger and living in the city. Now I have to be very aware.

    1. Thanks Mags! Yes, I am recovering. I have to be much more careful walking though. My next fall could cause more damage. I don't want that to happen.

  10. Perhaps this may cheer up a bit: I was editing old blog entries from summer 2011 and lo! I read one in which I am excited to get a large plastic cup from you. I still have it, use it; everytime I do I think of you.

    1. Dr. Spo,
You made my day. I'm glad you like the drinking "cup" that doesn't sweat. I use mine all the time too. I think the one I sent to you has a Hawaiian shirt design. Very appropriate for you. I always think of you when I see and wear the wonderful shirts you so generously made for me. Always appreciative.
