| Me viewing Niagara Falls 1966 |
The first time I visited Niagara Falls was in 1966. I guess you could say it was our (me and Bill's) honeymoon trip.
Back then I was very impressed. Oh sure, I had heard all about Niagara Falls as the ultimate honeymoon destination. I always wanted to go back. Last year, when Pat picked me up in Buffalo, for my annual holiday with him at his home in Toronto, he surprised me by booking a room at a Niagara Falls hotel.

We had perfect weather. I wanted to take that boat ride on the Niagara River. Pat didn't. So we didn't. See, I don't always get my way (smile).

This year again, Pat picked me up in Buffalo. This time I booked at room at a bed and breakfast, which I will write about in my next blog.

Again, I pushed for a ride on the Maid of the Mist
but Mr. Pat was unenthusiastic about such a proposition. However, we did take a ride on the Sky Wheel, a gigantic Ferris Wheel. What a view of the falls from the Sky Wheel, especially at night with the lights on the falls!
We did a lot of
The next day we visited the Falls. This year the weather wasn't as cooperative but the Falls were still very impressive.
I asked two Japanese tourists to take this show video of me and Pat.
No matter the weather, Pat and I always have a grand time!
This will probably be our final visit to Niagara Falls. Unless Pat agrees to go on the Maid of the Mist.

I went on Maid of the Mist while pregnant with my dd 21 years ago. For someone who is afraid of water, it was one of the most relaxing things we did while there. Tell Bill that it is something you just have to do. Cheryl
I visited Niagra Falls years ago and I regret not going on the maid of the mist boat. I watched to go by and thought it looked like so much fun! However, the fireworks over the fall in the summer were very cool!
Well maybe some day you'll get to take that boat ride, but glad you had a great time. I have never been there but would like to go some time. George has been talking about it but it's a long way from TN.
Ron - yep - Niagara Falls was another great adventure. I even walked away from the casino with more money than I went in with. Even tho it was only a $6 plus win. Also - you have some really great shots of the Falls.
Pat
Hi Ron, The first and only time at Niagara Falls was September 10th-ish 1986. The American side, going to Canada then was out of my way. BTW you didn't buy something again and when the told, you asked how much that was in real money? ;-) Glad you had a great time and hope to see you and Pat again some time.
Great mix of old and new.
Checking in on the blog after a long time away. Glad to know you're doing alright and your trip was fun!
Cheryl,
Now you have me enthused again to do the Maid of the Mist. I'll try to convince Pat to take it next year. Wish me luck!
Ron
Tyler,
We missed the fireworks! I bet that was cool. We did see the Falls light up with red, white and blue however when we were on the Sky Wheel. Also very cool. I think we'll go back again next year.
Ron
Back Porch Writer,
You really should do Niagara Falls. It is well worth it. Very touristy but a lot of fun. I think we'll do it again next year.
Ron
Yes, I forgot to put in that you walked out a winner from the casino! We'll have to try our luck again next year. This time I gamble. Always fun taking these trips with you Pat!
Ron
Randy,
Yes, I was the Ugly American who asked when buying film in a camera shop in Quebec "How much does that cost in REAL money?" Man, you should have seen the friendly smile drop from her face when she realized I was the Ugly American preeminent. She responded "You mean how much is that in American money?" which I did. Count on my for a faux pas. Hey, I just said a French phrase! Hope to see you Randy again sometime soon.
Ron
Thanks Jimmy! That's me, a mix of the old and new. Mostly old now (smile).
Ron
Jardley,
Oh yes, I'm still here and still having fun. Arthritis and other physical ailments creeping up on my 74 year old body but I'm still going out and having a good time. We only get one go round and I intend to make the most of my time.
Ron
Does Pat know how to swim? Does he get seasick? I'm sure he has legitimate reasons for avoiding the Maid of the Mist. I, for one, would be afraid of the Ferris wheel - but I'd still go. Great photos, Ron.
