Enjoying Streaming Shows

I'm really enjoying my new streaming of movies in the Tipton Cinema.

Last night I finished the third (and final) season of "The Kominsky Method." That is a Netflix series starring Michael Douglas and many other Hollywood stars in cameo roles. This is the kind of show I like. Intelligent scripts, great acting, good (authentic) story lines and dark comedy along with real drama.

I'm always sad when I come to the end of one of these series.

Netflix suggested a new series for me to watch, "Frankie and Johnny." This is the one starring Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. Wow, talk about going from excellent to crap. Stupid, cliche clogged scripts. I can predict everything they're going to say.

Miscasting big time. Casting that notorious lesbian Lily Tomlin as the loving wife of Sam Waterson. Doesn't work folks.

Casting Martin Sheen and Sam Waterson as late in life self discovered homosexuals in love with one another and leaving their wives Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin, sorry Hollywood producers of this "make the money and run" production, DOES NOT WORK. I hate shows like this which are an insult to my intelligence. Yes, MY intelligence. I've watched enough movies and TV shows in my lifetime to know crap when I see it. To know when the actors are just going through the motions to collect a paycheck. Shame on you Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, Martin Sheen and Sam Waterson for trying to foist this drek on the viewing audience.

I went back to that entertaining frothy series "Emily in Paris." This series is entertaining but now that I'm on the sixth or so season, they're starting to stretch in ridiculous territory. I've seen this with shows before, when they run out of story material, plot line, the ridiculousness starts to rear its ugly head. I can take a few more show of this silly confection but I need something more intelligent. Then I found the sixth season of "Better Call Saul." Hey! That's what I'll be watching tonight.

I am so glad to hear that this new streaming ability in the Tipton Cinena has enhanced your pleasure. We all enjoy what we like and it's an oh so very personal thing and we don't take it lightly. I like what I like in the way of movies, sit-com and documentaries. It's a lot like sex. Somethings get the juices flowing and others just don't get a rise out of me. I suffer from panic attacks triggered by increases in my level of pain from my chronic deep vein thrombosis and/or vertigo induced by cervical stenosis. For some reason medical research as proven that laughter is good medicine. I find comedy movies or series brings on laughter that greatly reduces my pain. Often English drama or mystery series do the same. I believe your improved cinematic choices are good medicine for you. Three cheers for you! Anything new on sources of radio programming for Mr. Kelly? I'd personally would be inclined to find some podcasts with content that would interest him and record them for playback. I originally subscribed to audible so that my terminally ill second husband had something to listen to while lying awake late at night at home in his hospital bed. I have also wondered if you ever asked Bill if he had a suggestion or old school solution of his own that might work for him. Seems to me self activated pre-recorded listening content would be the way to go. And it could be there for him 24/7/365. Just thinking out loud. Ron, keep safe, be careful in all that you do, and be happy. Warmest regards from Woody in Ohio

Forgot to comment on the photo of Bill. WOW! He looks remarkably like a movie star/actor of the era. Amazing archival content you keep rolling out. You honor him well.

Woody,
You're right about watching entertainment that you like being "good medicine." I know laughter is great medicine for me. Last night I laughed so hard at a scene from "The Kominsky Method" that my stomach actually hurt. I can't remember the last time I laughed that hard. Great medicine!
No, I haven't gone any further with your recommendation for podcasts for Bill. I had thought of that but because of his cognitive decline and blindness, I would have to be more involved that I am now to get him hooked up. I just don't have the time for that. It's still an option though, I am still considering how I can arrange to have Bill listen to podcasts. What he's mainly interested in though is the local news. The Fox radio station that he listens to now does have news, you just have to plow through the right wing propaganda lies though to get to the news.
Yes, Bill was very handsome when he was younger. That's why I initially spurned all his attempts to meet me in the gay bar when I eventually met him. I saw how handsome he was and I wasn't about to be "just another knotch on his holster." I knew what was going on when he sent me that first complimentary drink. I wasn't planning hard to get, I just wasn't interested. Even though Bill was very popular and handsome, he wasn't my type. My "type" was a smaller guy, sort of on the nerdy side. Not a complete nerd but not your usually gay fantasy of the blonde California boy surfer type. That never was my type. No was a six foot, very self assured, handsome older man my type. But when I met Bill I found him to be very nice to me and he treated me like a prince which has has done for the past almost fifty-nine years. How many people can say that? Today were were talking about that first time he saw me across the bar. We've talked about it often, Bill likes telling that story. He told me today when he saw me that July night in 1964, he knew then I was "the one." It's just that I didn't know that fact until man-years later when I almost left him for another man. But I've told this story often and won't repeat it again here. I've been very lucky in my life. I am so thankful that Bill persisted in meeting me.
