More I "Never Did That!"

Hey folks, my "Things I Never Did Meme" was so popular and fun that I decided to do another.  Here goes:

  1. I've never visited the Grand Canyon (would love to someday but not by myself)
  2. Never been arrested (although most of my friends have)
  3. Never had a mug shot taken (although most of my friends have)
  4. Never got a traffic ticket (did get a warning once for speeding from a very cute and YOUNG officer)
  5. Never told anyone to go "F_CK" themselves to their face
  6. Never looked on someone else's desk (at work) when they were away to gain information (although I have since found out most people do)
  7. Never been to the top of the Philadelphia City Hall (although worked right next to City Hall for over thirty years and always meant to go there one day)
  8. Never soaped up a car or strung toilet paper for a Halloween prank
  9. Never learned how to do Algebra
  10. Never built a model airplane (or ship)
  11. Never flew in a helicopter
  12. Never been catheterized (although I understand that will end soon when I undergo prostate therapy treatment...oh God)
  13. Never went hunting (although I disrupted some hunters on my land)
  14. Never rode a dune buggy or an ATV (and never will)
  15. Never danced a waltz (or polka) - would love to learn

That's it for now folks.  Next up is "Things That I Have Did Which Would Surprise You".

Wow! You're posting late in the day.

The only two I've done on this are:

#8: I soaped and "decorated" the car of someone I worked with in a summer job. They harassed me all summer, and I got even. I almost shrink-wrapped the entire car, but thought better of it. (Very hot day. Likely paint damage.)
I did this on my last day, on my way out. The guy couldn't get at me.

#9: Took math courses for six semesters in college. I'm a self-confessed nerd.

BTW, what's with that whip Ron? Do I want to know?!?

now whip it, whip it good! :)

I HAVE done:

#4 - a speeding ticket in 1980 (doing 60 in a 25 mph zone)

#5 - so many times to so many assholes

#6 - yep; gotta keep one step ahead of your boss and peers

#7 - in the 60s with my grandmother (just the once; I remember the tower being closed to visitors before repairs were made)

#9 - I LOVED algebra and trig; geometry and calculus were a waste of time in high school/college

#12 - in 1989 during my cancer surgery; it's easier for a girl (hint - we are bigger down there)

can't wait for the next post! ;-)

Come to AZ and we will take you to the Grand Canyon; reasonable attorney's fees included.

Interesting addendum to previous post. Never could see the fun in TPing things; was shocked when high school friends did it. Algebra is just solving for unknowns and we all do that, you too. Had veins catheterized for scans and venoplasty, also urethral catheter for an operation. No discomfort so don't worry. Have waltzed, square-danced and danced with Sufis --pretty much the same. You may enjoy (Sufi) "Dances Of Universal Peace" --there's probably a chapter in your area. And I concur, ATVs and dunebuggies are just silly, loud and destructive.

I've always been in love with Hedy Lamarr. She's hot. Does that make me straight??
Believe it or not my Mother met her once on a fund-raising tour (that was before I was born).

I've done a few things on your most recent list.
Let's see:

I have visited the Grand Canyon. Twice.

I have had several traffic tickets (long ago)

I was in the journalism class in high school
and one night we toilet-papered the entire school.

I have told several people to go F--K themselves. Strangely enough, they didn't.....

Sean,

Sometimes I post late in the day, sometimes in the morning. Usually in the morning though. I like to work at my computer with natural daylight. If I work at night, I tend to stay too long then I can't go to sleep.

Sean,

The whip? Ah ha, I'll never tell. :)

Anne Marie,

"Whip it, whip it good!" You noticed. :) 60 mp in a 245 mph zone? ZOOM! "Who was that masked man?" "That was no masked man, that was Anne Marie of Philly!"

Dr. Spo,

The Grand Canyon is on my Bucket LIst. However, I doubt if I'll be able to get on a plane when I get my radioactive seeds implanted. I understand from a friend who had that radiation procedure, there is really a hassle getting on a plane now, more so than just taking off your shoes and disrobing.

Geo,

In grade school I square danced and LOVED it. I like to dance and I think I would like to do the waltz an polka. Never had the opportunity. I can do the two-step and Fox Trot (sort of) though. When I first came came in the Sixties, I used to slow dance with other guys. LOVED IT.

Tell me about it Jon. Hedy Lamarr is also my favorite. First time I saw her I was in LOVE. I felt the faint stirring of heterosexuality somewhere down deep in my psyche. Could I have been straight in a previous life? Imagine my surprise many years later when I found out that Hedy and I shared the same birthday, November 9th. I've read a lot about her and apparently she wasn't a very nice woman but no matter. I still am turned on my her. To me she was the most beautiful movie actress ever, bar none.

The "dies" are coming up next Bob. I have to be careful though, this is a semi-family blog. A lot of "did's" will have to remain in the shadows. I know you understand. And no, the "did" doesnt' involve a horse.

Ron, Did you know that Hedy Lamarr was also a mathematician? She is the co-inventor of an early spread spectrum / frequency hopping communications technique. Since you worked with a "nameless three-letter agency" for a time, I thought you might have a passing acquaintance with this stuff.

Ron, It's probably better that you don't tell. :-)

BTW, We'll be out of town this weekend, so I'll catch up w/ you on FT some time in the future.

Roger,

My brother, who also has prostate problems, has been catheterized a number of times. One time they weren't paying attention and when they were ramming the tube in, they damaged his tissue, almost sending him through the roof. It took weeks before he healed. I am always apprehensive of invasive medical procedures. I understand with my upcoming procedure they put it in when I'm knocked out but take it out when I am fully conscious. And that I understand is a shock too.

Ron

Ron said...

Yes Sean, I knew Hedy was the co-inventor of the frequency hopping system which many say was the precursor of the Internet. Who knew?

Ron

It's the precursor of most of the wireless communication that we know and love these days.
