President Biden gave his "farewell" speech last night from the Resolute desk in the White House.
I usually avoid watching Biden stumble through his speeches but I thought I would give this one a try. I almost made it. I just can't take his weak whispery voice and stuttering. Oh I know, he can't help the stuttering. Like I said before many times on this blog, I used to stutter myself but I overcame it. Perhaps I'm being unfair by criticizing his stutter because "he can't help it." Whatever, then probably he shouldn't be in the business of politics where communication is so important.
Stuttering indicates weakness and that is exactly what we don't need now that The Convicted Felon and Fraudster Trump is in full bore. We need someone who can speak in a straightforward and articulate manner.
Thank you president Biden for your fifty plus years of service to our country but now is the time to go into retirement like me. Yes, I'm a year older than Biden and I'm not what I used to be when I was twenty years younger but then I'm not trying to hold onto my previous jobs because I am not capable of performing my best now that I am older.
Believe it or not Joe, there are others quite capable of being the president of the United States.
Kamala Harris is one of those people.

I too watched President Biden's speech last night. I have a quibble about your recent post. "Stuttering indicates weakness." We all know that stuttering should not be seen as a weakness or a disability. Encountering a stutterer one has to put on their listening ears and be a little more patient.
Yes, Uncle Joe is not what he used to be and his communication skills have waned over the years. I too wish he would speak up and emphatically say what he had to say. But I understand and provide grace. I still understood the message being communicated.
I thank President Biden for all his years of service to this country. He has six months left before he exits stage left. He wants to check off things on his to-do list. I am sure he will be involved in politics in one way or another after he leaves the White House. What a vast source of knowledge he can impart as he pulls up others behind him.
I can't wait to read his memoir. I would like to read the behind-the-scenes of his decision to step down from running for a second term. There were a few we turned on him. Knowing Joe we will never know. But all in all, it will be a great read. A public servant through and through.

About your quibble with me over Biden's stuttering. I said "stuttering indicates weakness." That doesn't necessarily mean the person who is stuttering is weak but stuttering DOES indicate weakness to many people, as unfair as that may seem. I quibble I have with Biden is that if he knew he had this stuttering problem why did he choose an occupation (politician) that requires good communication skills especially speechifying? Biden also has another communication problem other than stuttering, he cannot complete a sentence and tends to ramble on. I think a lot of this is a habit he has developed over the years from being a Senator from age twenty-nine years old. Biden was not our best candidate to beat Trump this year. He was in 2020, but not this year because clearly his communicative skills, such as they are, were not going to get him elected this year. We have more important things to worry about than one man's ego, we have to save our country from Trump and his MAGA fascists. I do thank Joe Biden for all he has done, especially pushing Obama out of the closet as to gay marriage. He did that, Obama wasn't going to do it. Nobody "turned on him" other than humoring him that he was still an effective campaigner for president. We as voters have a right to make a choice. Thank God Biden made the right choice by bowing out of there presidential race. I'm sure it ws very difficult for him, no body ikes to give up power especially when one has had it for so long. Biden, like all of us, has had ups and downs in his life. But he's no different from any of us when it comes to our time to bow out of the workforce. Thank you Joe and have a wonderful retirement. He'll get the accolades. I'm just surprised it took him three weeks to see the writing on the wall.

Joe did alright last night with his speech. Only a few stumbles.Maybe it's just me but his whispering voice annoys me. Maybe that's picking on him. Now I like Kamala's strong voice. We need a strong voice for the threat that is facing our country. Kamala has that voice, Joe does not. But Joe did the right think by bowing out. Would have been better if he had done it three weeks ago when the writing was on the wall but at least he did it now.

Ron, I will respectfully differ with you about the timing because to me it’s clear he caught the republicans completely off guard and knocked them off their convention pedestal. They are stuck with Vance now, but probably would’ve picked a different guy (or gal) if they’d known they were up against Kamala in the top spot. Also the “lateness” has given potential opponents no time to challenge Kamala. A groundswell of popular democratic support as evidenced by donations solidly swept her in. Planned or not, it’s been brilliant. More will be revealed.

On second thought, I agree with you on the timing of Biden's exit from the presidential race. Timing his exit after the Republican Convention and Trump's choice of his vice president, which I think he and the Republicans regret now, would have been different. Trump is going to lose and he knows it now.
