This One Hurt

I got my wait number - ready to be stabbed.

This morning I stepped back on the Medical Treadmill for a bit.  I had a run of about a month without any doctor's appointments.  It was nice.

I had to go in for a blood test (Lipid Panel test, whatever that is) for my upcoming appointment with my cardiologist.  Fun times.

Remember, I have that extra heart beat.  I'm all heart.

Usually when I get my blood drawn it's only a prick.  A prick. Not drawn by a prick but a prick.  Oh never mind.

Anyway, this morning, as nice as the guy was, he stabbed me.  I was bleeding.  It hurt.  Nice way to start the day off.  Oh well, could be worse.

Ugh!! No fun coming back from such a great trip to the grind of daily life. I hope all is well with your test. Sometimes there is nothing wrong with a prick!! Pun intended!!

There were always things I wanted to say when the phlebotomist came in and said, "you will feel a little prick." Things like, "If I do you're going to feel a little fist," or "LITTLE prick?"
Never would actually do that, but sometimes they would catch me in a mild giggle.

Sounds decidedly less fun than a trip to So. Cal., that's for sure.

Ron, your lipids panel is an indicator of cardiovascular health. If blood came out, it means your heart is working. If no blood came out it means you're having it done too often. I've had so many done since heart surgery 10 years ago that all my veins contract and hide down in my foot when the needle appears. Sincere hopes that your results are ok. Best wishes.

Ron - random thoughts. Looks like a nice facility. "medical treadmill" - like it. Lipid tests are for cholesterol - LDL, HDL, triglycerides. Hope it healed up quickly.

James,
After the past few years, I am so exhausted from the Medical Treadmill. In addition to my cardiovascular concerns (which I think are minor) I have this growing arthritis problem. Each day I find walking and just getting around more and more difficult. Not much to be done though to alleviate the problem, which is old age other than keep exercising which I do every morning and afternoon with my daily walks. I got a lot of exercise in California!

Jono,
When I get bloodworm done at the VA, that guy (Dennis) is so good, sometimes I don't even feel anything. Not so yesterday, that was a real stab in the arm yesterday. Probably the most painful blood taking I've ever had.

Bea,
Back to reality now. However, I do have another fun trip coming up. This a one day excursion (next Tuesday) to my former hometown and workplace of Philadelphia, PA. I always love visiting Philadelphia.

I put off this stuff as long as I can and I also have that extra beat. Glad you survived it.

Sunshine,
Usually the blood tests don't bother me but this one was like he stabbed a fork into my vein. HURT!
