The airline and hotel reservations are made. Ron is going to Hollywood!
Yes folks, my dream has been long delayed but it is about to be realized. I leave January 7th, 2015. I will meet my fellow adventurer Pat in at LAX airport in Wednesday morning. His plane arrives 10:40 AM and mine arrives 10:45 AM.
Then we're off to the Historic Hollywood Hotel for a ten day stay. Details to follow later.

Bill asked me "Why are you going to Hollywood?" Of course I answered "I'm going to be discovered!"

Have a fun trip, Ron, but don't try climbing the HOLLYWOOD sign. Police have installed sensors to alert them of that. Too many people have fallen off the H, but I think the Y would hurt worse. Enjoy the weather too!
How fun. I was there 2-3 years ago for a short visit. You can take the subway back into LA. I am going to Huntington Beach the last week in January for 48 hours.

We will definitely see the HOLLYWOOD sign. But no worries about me jumping off of it, I'm having much too good of a time right now in my life. And I always wanted to escape to warmer climes in January, same with Pat. Now we're doing it! YES!

Now you tell me (smile). I've already made my airline reservations. I'm meeting my friend Pat (from Toronto) at LAX. We'll experience "the Pit of Hell" together. Just the first step of our adventure. Thanks for the advice though. Maybe next time if we return.

Ron - I've been to LA on two short visits. I just checked out the different neighbourhoods and locations in the downtown area like Little Tokyo, Rodeo Drive, Sunset and Vine. There is such a background of my life in song and movies associated with this city. I love listening to the old Dragnet radio series and hearing them refer to streets like Wilshire, Spring, Hope etc that I'm familiar with. I also got to see a lot of mid century modernism shops. Just a relaxing place when I was there.
The hummus is particularly good.
If you have access to a car and want a little down time, I'd recommend an afternoon at Descanso Gardens.
No, Ron. Might have mentioned it before somewhere but my only setting foot on American soil was way back in 1969 - NY and Washington DC only.

I am so looking forward to our visit. Always better when these trips are with a friend. Next year I'll show you around Provincetown. I always wanted to make one last visit. So many good memories from the Seventies but I'm sure much has changed. I hope the Tea Dance at the Boat Slip is still on though. Also, you can relax in P-town. Walk everywhere. Trust me on this one.
