The Dancing Man of Hamilton Ontario Canada

This morning I put together these video clips that my Canadian friend and travel buddy Pat sent to me of the Dancing Man of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Pat lives in downtown Hamilton, in an old historic hotel which converted to condominiums.  Right outside his hotel is Gore Park. During the summer there are free concerts. Hamiltonians gather at the tables to enjoy the music and balmy summer weather.  Occasionally some get up and dance to the music (shades of Sly and the Family Stone).  This short movie I made of the video clips Pat sent to me over his iPhone is of one gentleman who has some real Fred Astaire dancing moves.

I hope you get as much pleasure as I do from seeing this gentleman dancing.

  1. Wow! It's as if Mr. Astaire has been resurrected! You gotta get his autograph, it will be worth a fortune someday! Have a good weekend , Ron.

    2. Are you going to enter his name for 'Dancing with the Stars' (as I think the American version of our 'Strictly Come Dancing' is called)? He is so supple - an improvisatory style, one may call it. I can just see him doing the 'Moonwalk'!

I didn't dare to start 'dancing' (disco-style ) until my late 30s - far too self-conscious before then, and even then it was only thanks to being loaded first with several gin-tonics that gave me the necessary pluck. From that time for 10 years it was part of my hedonistic stage. I really envy Pat (here presumably stone-cold sober) being able to do what he wants without giving a flying f*** as to what others think. Well done, Sir.

    3. Ray,
I used to watch "Dancing With the Stars". To me those dancer were more acrobatic than dancers. This guy (who isn't Pat by the way but another guy who looks like Pat who also lives in Hamilton), is as you say "so supple - an improvisatory style." To me he is a pleasure to watch as he accommodates his moves to the music that is playing at that time. He even accommodates the people walking in Gore Park, motorized wheelchairs and all. I watch these dancers on "Dancing With the Stars" and I'm worn out after their "number." Watching the Dancing Man of Hamilton", I feel good and happy. He isn't doing a workout but literally being one with the music and not being self conscious about doing it in public. I hope to meet him when I visit Pat next month. If I see him dancing you can be sure I'll take a lot of videos, full length videos. By the way, I love putting together these little video presentations. I think I missed my calling.

    4. Now you've said that this is someone other than Pat (uncanny resemblance from a distance) feel just a tad let down, though I suppose I ought to have paid more attention to what you said and wrote. But even so, this guy is a remarkable 'mover' and all credit to him for not giving a hoot about others' opinions, which ought to be highly positive in any case.
Yes, you've got an obvious knack of compiling these mini-entertainments. Looking forward to seeing many more. Well done!

    5. Ray,
Actually Pat has good dance moves too. I don't think I can get him to do it in public like this guy but I'll try. I do have a short video of him dancing at Oil Can Harry's, a gay night spot in West Hollywood. Also, Pat and the Dancing Guy are built the same. Same height and weight (148 lbs). I can't get a good look at the Dancing Guy's face but I think Pat is very handsome.

    6. Yes, Pat has kept his looks. I don't recall you ever telling us his age - and why should you? If he really is older than me (in 2 months turning 72) I hope I can keep what's left of my appearance and agility as he has.

    7. Ray,
Pat doesn't mind me telling his age. He's seven years younger than me, he's 69 years of age. I always wanted to met and have a good-looking, sexy man for my best friend. That's Pat! And he's a nice guy too! Witty, funny, generous and always interesting. I am indeed a very fortunate guy.

    8. You're making me very envious indeed of your acquaintanceship with this man. Lucky for you that I don't live in your vicinity - or in south- east Canada!

  2. Watching Pat's video several times, our Dancing Man is a free style dancer and an excellent one at that. I hope you and Pat can meet up with him.
    One cute fella to boot.

    1. Joel,
Oh how I wish I could dance freestyle like the anonymous man in this video. When I visit Pat in Hamilton next month I hope to meet him and find out his name. Also to take more videos of his fabulous dancing, with his permission of course. I'll make him famous with my You Tube postings. Only thing that concerns me is that I may stifle his style. Right now he is a free spirit. He makes me smile when he dances. I'll tell him that if I am lucky enough to meet him. And yes, I think he is cute too!
