Trump's Muslim Travel Ban Chaos

This commentator expresses my views exactly on the Trump's administration travel ban on seven predominately Muslim counties.

Last night spontaneous demonstrations broke out at major airports as travelers from those predominately Muslim countries were detained and "extremely vetted". Among those detained were travelers with green cards and visas who have already been vetted.  One man detained is an interpreter who risked his life to help U.S. soldiers in Mosul.

Each day, there is a new outrage from this obviously incompetent Trump administration.  The latest is the installation of Trump's alt right buddy Steve Bannon a permanent seat while demoting the joint chiefs of staff on the national security council. This action makes our country safer? Trump surrounding himself with sycophants who tell him what he wants to hear? What's next? Putting Barron on the National Security Council?

These actions do not bode well for our country folks. And where are the Republican leaders?  Why aren't they speaking on this outrage?  Either they are afraid of Trump or they are so desperate to get Trump to sign those bills so dear to their hearts that they don't want to piss Trump off.

These actions of Trump and his incompetent cohorts do not make our country safer.  To the contrary, we are less safe now.

Hang in there,go for a walk. That's what I did this morning. It really helped. I guess everyone in the world is shocked and feel less safe today then yesterday. I have to believe decency will prevail.
    All the best.

    1. Jane,
Blogging about this helps me to cope with my feelings of dread. I cannot be silent when I see something so wrong. I too believe democracy will prevail.

  2. Ron,
I wonder if those who voted for trump (I will never capitalize his name) will realize, if ever, what they did to our country and themselves in particular. He has been in office for a week and already anarchy reigns rampant. trump and his cronies, who are apparently as crazy as he is, seem to justify the executive orders that have only created more division among the citizens of this once great country. I recommend watching the movie "Red Dawn", the version from the 1980's to get a glimpse of what life could be like in a very short time. I am sure there are countries just waiting to take over and trump will let it happen.
I, along with you and many others I am sure, am sickened by it all. It is obvious to me that even trump cannot sleep knowing that he is the creator of this mess.

    1. Jack - he has done exactly what he said he would. Why are you surprised? Those of us who voted for him are and will continue to support the change we wanted.

  3. I suspect it is the latter, they want their GOP things done so won't speak out lest they don't get what they want. Nasty.

    1. Dr. Spo,
The Republican leaders like Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell have sold their souls on the chance that Trump will sign in their long wished bills. They are not patriots but partisans only interested in pushing their own agenda and will look the other way at the behavior of this madman who is now our president. We are less safe every day. They are all cowards.

For the first time in my 48 years I am truly afraid of where our country is going. One of my grandparents who was able to get out of Germany just ahead of hitler always told us....when they are done coming for those who others are easily convinced of their evils....then my children that is when they will come for the rest of us. History is doomed to repeat itself.

    1. Anonymous,
You are exactly right. I've always remembered this quote from Pastor Niemoller:First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.

Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

      I am speaking out.
