Trump Airport Ban Begins
Happening right now are spontaneous protests at major airports in our country as the Trump "extreme vetting" begins. This "extreme vetting" is happening to those with green cards and legitimate passports. They are legal permanent citizens. They have undergone two years of vetting. Families are being torn apart. What kind of country are we living in now?
Folks, I am sick to my stomach that our basic American values are being trashed by Trump. I have never felt this was in my lifetime.
I grew up knowing and feeling proud that we in this county had different set of values than many other countries in the world. Unless you are descended from a native American, we are all in this country descended from immigrants.
My five times paternal great grandfather Jonathan Tipton emigrated to this country in 1692 from Port Royale, Jamaica. My maternal great-great grandfather emigrated to this country from England in 1854. They both came to this country for a better life.
Trump, with the help of Steve Bannon, has implemented this ban of people from predominately Muslim countries to keep us "safe." Of those seven countries that now have travel bans, not one of them has produced a terrorist that attacked Americans on our soil. The countries that have produced terrorists, Egypt and Saudi Arabia, are not on the list. Wonder why? Maybe because Trump has business interests in those countries?
Today, when I got up, I had all good intentions of writing a "nice" post and get off my political rantings against Trump. I know how boring that can be. There has been a lot going on in my life, especially today, that I would like to write about but I just can't pull myself out of this state of living in a state of constant low level dread. I can't get rid of this dread. I have never felt like this before in my life.
What is happening to our country? I just can't imagine our country surviving four years of Trump. He is the most divisive president we have ever had in our country's history.
