Toronto, Here I Come!

Me and Pat at Modern Mixture in Milton during Pat's visit last month

It's that time of year again folks!  This time next week I will be a guest of my little "brother" Pat at his fabulous home in Toronto. Why it seems like just a year ago I was visiting Pat in fabulous Toronto (yes, I used "fabulous" twice in one sentence).

Pat and I met two years ago (August 16th to be precise) in the parking lot of Hotel Blue in Lewes, Delaware.  I have to say it was "like" at first sight.  I finally met my "other Ron."  Pat and I are so much alike we're often mistaken for brothers by strangers.  On five different occasions in five different cities we have been approached by strangers and asked "are you brothers?"  There is something definitely there folks.  I don't know what but what I do know is that Pat and I are simpatico.  Now for those of you who get confuse easily; who have been brainwashed taught "one man only", well folks, we're breaking that rule. I can have my cake and eat it too.  Just saying (big smile).

But I digress.  Next Wednesday I catch the Big Bird American Airlines plane out of Philly for a flight to Buffalo.  Pat will pick me up in Buffalo (not the first time a handsome man has picked me up, but I digress . . . . again) and complete the last leg of my annual trek to Toronto.

In my absence my friend and co-worker Don W. will fill in for me at work.  Thank you Don!  We men have to stick together.  I'm always asked to fill in for my lady co-workers but when I'm out a man fills in for me.  Like today, I'm going in for yet another female co-worker but again I digress.  Lot's of digressing here folks and I would love to write about my work situation but I dare not in this public forum that often has unforeseen negative consequences for me.

Pat and Don
Suffice it to say, I appreciate Don filling in for me.  Above photo was taken last month during Pat's annual visit to Delaware.

This year we will not be meeting our friends Dr. Spo and Someone.  They took their annual holiday to Canada early this year.  We will miss them at the Canadian National Exhibition fun and games. Maybe next year, maybe not.

So folks, the next few days I will prepare for the Big Trip. And I just hope I don't forget to take my passport with me.

  1. You're a prime example for us oldies, Ron. "Enjoy life while you can - 'cos you probably won't have it for that much longer!".
Have fun in Toe-Ron-Toe - about which, I have every hope we'll be hearing.
Btw: If you have any 'spares' in the way of men, point them this way, will you?

    1. Ray,
Not to brag (but I am), this is literally the best time of my life. Sure, I have aches and pains and a constant worry about ever increasing bills and living on a fixed income, but for the day (and tomorrow), I try to live life to it's fullest. I am so lucky to have Bill and Pat. I know that and take nothing for granted. Lucky Ron.

    2. Sounds like all your previous decades were but a preparation for your current late, happy phase, Ron. That's what like ought to be like for everyone. Shame that it's not - but it's good that you appreciate your 'luck'. You'd have been a true sour-puss if you didn't.

    3. Ray,
You're absolutely right. The previous seven decades of my life were all in preparation for this time of my life, all that I ever hoped and dreamed of. As I've said many times before, if I should die tomorrow, I will die a happy and contented man knowing that I have lived a fulfilled and happy life.

  2. That first photo is so cute. I'll look forward to the descriptions of your upcoming trip to Canada. Every time I look at the hopeless pile of junk in my garage, I envy Pat's simple, minimalist way of life. It's an inspiration.

I hope my recent previous comments on your blog haven't been annoying. The debate about workmen wearing boots in the house was funny - - and, of course, I can't resist bashing Hillary.

    1. Jon,
Thanks (again) for the compliment. I no longer need a cane but I still limp a bit. That may (hopefully) will go away in about a year. I too have a "hopeless pile of junk" in my basement media room. I keep those double doors closed so I don't have to be reminding of my procrastination of cleaning that accumulation out.
I too envy Pat's minimalist way of life. He does just fine. I'm going in that direction but I don't think I'll ever go as far as Pat does but I do need to do some drastic downsizing.
Jon, your comments are never annoying. You're one of the Good Guys. And I don't mind you bashing Hillary. In fact, I think her time has passed. She seems tired and worn out and just going through the motions. Bernie Sanders (who is the same age as me) has way more energy. And of course you know I love Donald Trump for his authenticity and willingness to be politically incorrect. Some of his statements (like eliminating birthright citizenship) make me cringe, but I still like him nevertheless. I don't think even he thought he would take off like he has. Will be an interesting political season this year.

You didn't find your honey yet? Man oh man, get out there and make yourself available. A good-looking guy like you with your personality? It's just a matter of time until lightening strikes you too.
