I LOVE Donald Trump!

Yes, you read that right.

I LOVE DONALD TRUMP!

You want to know why?  Of course you do.

You're thinking "How can Ron, a former conservative (first presidential candidate I ever voted for was Barry Goldwater in 1964), turned Bleeding Heart Liberal, even consider taking Donald Trump seriously?"

I'll tell you why (that's why I have a blog folks).

THE DONALD TELLS IT LIKE IT IS

Do I agree with everything he says?  Of course not.  I don't agree with everything any politician says, even the ones I vote for.

But here is why I like Donald Trump.

He is shaking up The Establishment.

I get a kick out hearing the Talking Heads news coverage of Donald Trump on MSNBC and the other Talking Heads political discourse shows.  They all seem to preface their coverage of Donald Trump with the qualifier:

"Donald Trump, a man who will NEVER GET THE REPUBLICAN NOMINATION NOR EVER BE PRESIDENT said today . . . . . . "

It's almost like they're trying to convinced themselves that this couldn't be possible, "Donald Trump the Republican presidential candidate?"

And of course they're continuing their brainwashing of the public by steering their agenda of the Usual Subjects, like presidential candidates Jeb Bush and Hillary Clinton.

Now let's make this clear, I'm going to vote for Hillary.  I'm no big fan of Hillary or her husband Bill "Throw the gays under the bus" Clinton and their grasping, secretive ways but folks, can anyone seriously think I would vote for a Republican candidate that would take away my rights as an equal citizen of this country just because I happen to be born gay.  I would vote for Attila the Hun if he was for gay equal rights.

Attila the Hun (Fierce)

Not to belabor the subject folks, but imagine if one of those folks in the Republican Clown Show was elected president and then had a chance to appoint a Supreme Court Justice.  Just imagine.  There goes the country.  I would again be a criminal because I am gay and I "engage" in "unlawful" activity.  Not to veer too far off the subject but I've always been amazed at some straights being so concerned with what I do in my private life with another consenting adult.  Excuse me for being happy.  But I digress.  I have to stay on subject.

Donald Trump is shaking up the current, smug, arrogant political equation but talking without a teleprompter.

Donald Trump is causing his Republican political opponents to shake in their boots because he says what everyone is thinking.

Did Rick Perry start wearing glasses because he wanted people to think he was smart and not as stupid as he appeared to be on that debate stage when he couldn't even remember the three cabinets offices he said he would abolish once he became president? Of course and everyone knows it but no one said it.

Rick Perry - Before

Rick Perry - After

John McCain, War Hero, calls the 15,000 people who showed up for a Donald Trump event in Arizona "crazies".

McCain, War Hero, refused to apologize to the Trump supporters saying "Crazie" was an term of "endearment."

You all know John McCain, War Hero. The Angry Old Man who has gotten a free pass for years because he was captured by the Vietnamese when the Naval Admiral's son and grandson went off of a hotdog mission as a fighter pilot (which he was not, he was a bomber pilot) after he had already crashed two jets, which should have disqualified him from ever flying again but hey, John Sidney McCain III was used to having his way being born with a silver spoon in his mouth.

Now I am not discounting his year of imprisonment and torture during his 4 1/2 years of captivity but does that make him a hero?  My Uncle John Tipton was captured by the Germans TWICE during World War II (he was a paratrooper) and wasn't release until a few months after his mother died.  He suffered all kinds of deprivations as did his fellow prisoners but did he consider himself a "hero"?  No, he was just doing his job.

Again, not to belabor the subject but I guess this all depends on what qualifies one as a hero.  A fellow soldier falling on a grenade to prevent massive death to other soldiers . . . that's a hero in my opinion.  Being captured is not being a hero.  Especially since he went on a mission that he wasn't qualified for but went anyway because he was the admiral's son and no one would question him.

So for years John Sidney McCain has been getting a free pass.  He makes an insulting comment about Donald Trump's supporters in his home state of Arizona. McCain is used to making insulting and demeaning comments about his opponents, especially those who oppose his war mongering ways.  Then what a surprise, Trump comes right back at him and the whole Establishment is AGHAST!

"Someone criticized our WAR HERO"."  Give me a break.  Thank you for your service to our county Senator McCain and I am sorry you were captured and suffered but a war hero?  Not really.  You were captured.

So all the Talking Heads in The Media says "That's it for Donald Trump."  He "crossed the line."  Hey, guess what?  Donald Trump is still there bombastic as ever, leading the polls and fighting back.

Here's what I really like about Donald Trump,
he's shaking up the status quo.  Everybody had this political season down to Queen Hillary's Cake Walk and the Republican Clown Car fighting for recognition.

The Republican Clown car - let the show begin!

I especially like that he's shaking up the news media.  They just don't know what to make of The Donald.  They keep saying that The Donald Bubble will break but it just keeps going on.

I think Willie Geist said it best on "Morning Joe" the other day, while the Usual Suspects at the round table were trying to figure out The Donald Trump phenomena. Willie said:

Exactly.

  1. My only hope is that we can get a presidential candidate - on either side of the aisle - who is under 80.

Trump knows that he'd never get the Republican nomination, but - as you said - he loves to taunt and shake things up.

Hillary doesn't give a rat's ass about gays or their agenda, but she'd wear a rainbow pants suit to get their vote. (hey, I think I'm funny)

Love the picture of Attila. Perhaps he should be Prez.......

    1. Jon,
Again, we are in agreement. I know Hillary and the Clintons will do whatever to get elected and in power. But I go with the lesser of two evils. NO WAY, NO HOW would I ever vote for any of these Republicans.
I'm loving the way Donald is keeping us entertained by shaking things up, including the media who are always so smug in their analysis of the current political climate. They are besides themselves trying to figure out the Trump phenomenon. The only Republican who understands the anger that Trump has tapped into is Joe Scarborough, on "Morning Joe" and believe me, I'm no fan of Scarborough but he gets it.
That picture of Attila is from the movie "Museum at Night" or something like that. Glad you liked it.

    2. The Republican Party has completely fallen apart and the idiots who are left seem to be grasping at straws.

I miss your frequent blog posts, Ron, but I'm delighted that you are finding time to do other interesting things. There aren't enough hours in the day.......

    3. Jon,
I miss my frequent blog posts too and I've been feeling guilty that I haven't been posting. It's not like there isn't a lot happening (there is) but every now and then I get caught up in other activities (gardening, bug control and Scrabble - how's that for a mix?) and something has to give. Also, I spend a lot of time on FaceTime with Pat.
You're right, there aren't enough hours in the day.

  2. Trump has serious insiders worried, they are afraid he might get elected.
We have made "heroes" out of everyone who has ever served in the military. Sorry, a lot of them never faced real danger, they did the job they volunteered for, any more most are reasonably paid, I don't get it.

    1. David,
You're right, Trump does have the "insiders" worried and I'm loving it.
And you're also right that our culture has made "heroes' our of everyone who has ever served in the military. Not so and John McCain isn't a "hero" either.

  3. Ron, I agree with you! The more Trump mixes things up, the less chance ANY Repuglican has to be elected! It's GREAT! Plus, you can't discount the entertainment value to us intelligent people that are NOT sheeple!

  4. Ron, why is it that the political buffoons and imbeciles that WE have here (and there are quite enough of them, thank you) tend to be on the outer margins, but Americans have them all centre-stage? I'm quite envious of your colourful political world while we have to endure a long Arctic night of drabness. No wonder I've got such an interest in American politics Jay M., above, is quite right - the entertainment value is so enormous that there's hardly a dull moment for lucky you!

    1. Ray,
All my life I've been interested in politics. All my life the American political scene has never, NEVER been dull. I love it! And I especially love someone like Donal Trump, while I don't agree with some of his statements (I don't think he does either), shaking things up, especially the media and The Establishment who are so smug in thinking they are running the show. They may call Donald Trump a clown and a bloviating fool, but the more they do the more support he gains among the Great Unwashed like me. I'm loving this!

  5. Hi Ron,

I don't remember all these Republicans coming out of the woodwork when John Kerry was 'swift boated."

And all McCain did was crash planes and get captured (me and the Donald like guys who didn't get captured.)

And graduate at the bottom of his class at Annapolis...doesn't the GOP ever elect smart people to office?

I agree with Jay, I think the plan is for the Donald to splinter the GOP vote to ensure Hillary's election.

Although I would much rather have Sanders in the WH, Hillary would at least be able to replace some of the neanderthals on the SCOTUS.

But the clown show *is* very entertaining!

    :-)

    1. Andy,
I agree with you completely. I would LOVE to see Bernie Sanders as president. I believe what he believes and he is also authentic, like Donald Trump. He has a couple of significant problems though like this label Socialist and he looks old even though he is the same age as I am (all that white hair). I'll tell you who I REALLY like and who would make an excellent president, Elizabeth Warren. But as you said, electing Hillary, who will probably be the Democratic candidate, will ensure that a Democratic administration would guarantee that there would be any more Clarence Thomas's, Antonine Scalia, and Samuel Alitos on the Supreme Court. That is the most important aspect of this election.

But yes, the Clown Show is very entertaining and no one ever said Donald Trump wasn't interesting.

Love this Donald Trump saga. He tells it like he sees it. Cuts thru pomposity and is smart enough to handle the media's attempt to dismiss him. You will get lots of responses to this one I'm sure.

I especially love the media continually getting it wrong about Donald Trump. But everyday they say "The Trump Bubble will burst soon." I think they think if they keep saying it, it will happen. We shall see.

So let me get this straight (no pun intended).......you love, love, love Donald Trump because he tells it like it is, he is exposing the corrupt politicians for what they really are, he is setting the political scene on fire and finally riling people up so as to get things done, but you're going to vote for Hillary anyway. You do realize that should Hillary be elected (and she won't) the political scene will go back to the way it was before Donald Trump and everything he has accomplished will be of naught? There is no way in hell any of our gay rights will be reversed. It's all written into law now. The Republicans can't change a thing. Don't cross off Donald Trump nor believe he can't get himself elected to president. He has a 24% voter approval and is number 1. People are going to vote for him baby. And I hope you do too when the time comes.
I do hope you're not a lame democrat who just votes the party ticket mindlessly. Hillary is a lame excuse for a candidate and deep down inside you know it! I hope when election time comes, you do what is right for this country and not just for you, you, you!
