Tipton Family Reunion 2013

Me and my cousin Darlene Ford Tipton

Yesterday I attended my bi-annual Tipton Family Reunion in Downingtown, Pennsylvania.  While there weren't as many folks there this year, those of us who were there had a great time!

The weather was perfect (as it always is for my family reunion - I guarantee it) and the food was fabulous (catered by my cousin Dick Tipton and his wife Linda from their son's R.D. American grill).  And as at my last reunion I asked my friend Mark H. of "Our Simple Lives" to take photos.  Mark is a superbly talented photographer who has yet to be discovered.  I was wondering what I was going to post about my reunion and I decided to post this series of photos of my friend Mark herding cats gathering a family group together to take a photo.

Enjoy!

Mark on his knees!

Thanks for the great job Mark.

  1. Remarkably handsome family! I like the sequence of photos. Having herded some group-shots together myself, it never occurred to me to get on my knees and beg them to get arranged. I learn here!

Herding cats is probably easier than gathering family members together for a group photo.

Congrats on a job well done. I know you must have used a lot of time energy putting this together. And not only was it photographed but catered. A nice day with happy smiling faces - what more can you want.

    1. Pat,
Yes, it was very nice. The weather was great, happy folks, good food and a pro photographer. Indeed, what more could I ask for? Well, perhaps a few more family members could have attended but for those of us there, we had a great time.

    1. Jon,
The East Brandywine Park is beautiful. It was donated to the township by Farmer Brown, an old chicken farmer who my brothers used to work for. Bill and I used to live right down the road on Hopewell Road. We do miss living in Pennsylvania but we were taxed out (school taxes). Always nice to visit.

    1. Anne Marie,
My brothers (or their families) never come to my reunions, which is embarrassing for me but it is what it is. I don't know why they don't come. Actually, quite a few members of the Tipton clan don't come anymore. This is probably the last reunion I'll organize and pull off because the interest has died off. However, the folks who did come appreciated my effort in bringing the family together so it was worthwhile for me. Bill was well received. I missed getting him in the family photo though. What was I thinking? And yes, I was feeling better after my torture session at my doctor's office last Friday.

    1. Very observant Walt! You weren't the only one, one of the family whose picture was about to be taken mentioned the same thing to Mark, much to his embarrassment.

    2. Of course Walt would notice. I'm not surprised at all. :)

Ron, Well you were correct you did have perfect weather for your family reunion. I trust Bill enjoyed himself? But I didn't see him in any pictures. I'm glad your getting better, smooth sailing for the rest of the year? I noticed too the photo with you and your cousin you look very happy, looks like you even have a gleam in your eyes. And as far as herding cats, just wait until next April in Lewes. Talk about herding cats! LOL. Enjoy your day. Randy.

    1. Randy,

I always guarantee perfect weather for my family reunion. First one was in 1994, then 1995, then 1997. Then I lost my job and couldn't afford to hold another until 2010. Another in 2011 and now 2013. Every year I've guaranteed perfect weather and every year we have had perfect weather. This Sunday was chancy though because the day started out cloudy but the sun cam out when the folks started to arrive.

Oh yes, gathering the guys (and gals) together for a photo at the Bloggerpalooza was a challenge last year. You will not that Anne Marie wasn't in the photo. We couldn't find her on the day of the photo shoot. She was shopping. Hopefully, we'll have more luck next year.
