Dressing For An Old Time Photo

I'm just guessing here, but probably the last time a woman dressed Dr. Spo was when he was a wee little one and his mother dressed him.  Well folks, here is soon to be rare footage of Dr. Spo being dressed by a woman.  Her name is Anne and she is the proprietress of Old Time Photo in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.  Dr. Spo, the good sport that he is (and oh did we ever take advantage of his good nature this past weekend at the Bloggerpalooza), consented to an Old Time photo shoot.  He admitted to me later that he didn't quite know what to to expect but I think all would agree that Anne chose the right outfit for Dr. Spo and he does make for one quite attractive Union Soldier.

My thanks to Anne for permitting me to take these photos.  At Old Time Photo they have a rule against customers taking photos but Anne relaxed that rule for us during the dressing phase.

Also, the blurred images are a result of me using my iPhone to take these photos.  I was just way too nervous to hold my slim iPhone steady.  Next time I bring my Canon SLR, that is if Anne will let me.  That's what I like about using my iPhone, I can take photos surreptitiously without intimidating everyone with shoving a big old SLR camera in their faces.  I hope Anne gives me permission again for our photo shoot next year.

Now here are the good photos taken by our friend Mark of "Our Simple Lives."

  1. Excellent 'action' photos, Ron - with additional gratitude to Mark for some of these. The more you show us the more I want to see.

Btw: I'm assuming that Anne didn't ask Dr Spo if she could measure his inside leg in return for bending the rules - or DID she, behind the curtains?

    1. Ray,

Doesn't Mark take the best photos? That man has talent to spare. Nice guy too.

Did Ann measure Spo's "inner seam"? I'll never tell. ;)

    2. Only just realised that the top one is a video. Good to see SassyBear in all his dragged-up glory. I've heard of 'exploring one's feminine side' but that really is jumping in the deep end!

    3. Ray,

Sean is really a good sport. I'm glad I met him. I like him.

  2. for a moment there, I thought the post title read: "a woman undresses dr. spo". WHOA! pulled me up by the short & curlies! ;-)

spo is "the very model of a modern Major-General" methinks!

    1. Anne Marie,

We're saving a place for you next year in our old time photo. Cowgirl or dance hall gal?

  3. This was WAY too much fun! I'll be honest, I groaned inwardly when I heard what the plan was, but I was soooo wrong inwardly! This was GREAT! And my THREE pics showed up today!

    Peace <3

    1. Jay,

You groaned inwardly when you heard about the photo shoot? On no, photo shoots are always a lot of fun. Have you ever done one before? I've been doing them every year for the last three years. Always a fun time. I'm glad you enjoyed our session. You were great!

    2. Apparently they are! HAHAHAHA I had a ball once I got there!

Normally, I hate mirrors, and to have my picture taken. Thus the lack of pictures of me on my blog and Facebook, and practically everywhere else! This is all about self-image, to be perfectly honest.

But I had a ball, thoroughly enjoyed myself, and bought all three pics - serious, smiling, and funny! And love me in all three!

    3. Jay,

I think the pictures of you were very good. In fact, several other people said the same thing. I understand not being pleased with pictures of yourself, for instance that one you took of me in the hospitality suite. God, delete that one. As I've gotten older, if I'm tired I show it big time in my eyes. I need a LOT of rest (naps). I couldn't sleep this past weekend so that's why I looked so wiped out and believe me, I wasn't too happy with most of the pictures I saw of myself but it is what it is.

Glad you had a good time. That's what counts.

You were such a good sport to go along with our silliness. Thank you so much.

  5. If I make it next year, I'll just have to make a silly ass of myself also. If everyone of us had been there, I don't think Anne would have had a wide-enough lens!

  6. Gads I didn't realize I was so fat - next time I lose 10lb around my waist.

  7. Dr. Spo,

"Gads" - that was a word I thought only I used. Good to hear it again. By the way, you are adorable just the way you are. Don't change a thing. I don't see anything but one hunky man. :)

    1. Gads is a word my grandmother used often - we think of her when we use it
About the waist - well duckie you go on thinking that if it comforts you but I do not see the same image - time to cut out all those extra calories and lose at least 5lb in the midrift.

    2. Dr. Spo,

I don't know where I picked up the term but it is an old fashion term that I've never heard used these days by any of my contemporaries. Hearing it brought back fond memories.
Let me know how you lose that five pounds around your middle. As men reach middle age, losing weight around the middle is perhaps the hardest thing to do. I think it gravity has a lot to do with it. But as I said, I think you look just fine and yes, it does "comfort" me. You're not fat. I don't see it.

    1. Mark,

I am so disappointed too that you and Joe missed our "photo shoot." Both of you would have been fantastic. If we have this next year, I will give you plenty of advance notice. I can picture you and Joe and Sassy Bear now. :) You'll just have to get someone else to show that house the day of next year's photo shoot. :)
