|My hand on Bill's hand - together forever|
There is a real possibility that Delaware will be the 10th state to pass a marriage equality law.
This July Bill and I will have been together for 49 years. As Joe Biden said "This is a big f_cking deal." And indeed it is folks.
I always assumed that Bill would marry me once we could get married legally, not "civil unioned" legally, but MARRIED legally. That's what I always assumed. Then this morning I got to thinking, neither one of us has ever asked the other "Do you want to get married?" So this morning, while Bill was checking his e-mail on his ancient (over 14 years old, everything about us is OLD) Toshiba laptop computer I asked him "Do you want to get married?" I was standing behind him while he was seated at his computer. He didn't even turn around but said "Sure, I'll marry you."

So now all we have to wait for is that little detail of Delaware passing a marriage equality law so that all of it's citizens can have the ability to get married and thus have the dignity and protections accorded to others.
As regular readers of this post know, I usually post a LOT of pictures of myself. This post folks I'm posting pictures of the man I love. The man who has made my life whole for my whole adult life. My Bill.
Bill in the Air Force in Japan 1952
Bill at Disney World 1965
Bill the handyman fixing his tractor (something I cannot do but I can cook)
Bill with our neighbor Bob
Me hugging Bill (you didn't think I would post a series of pictures without at least ONE of me did you?)
Bill on one of the rare occasions I drug him out of the house and into a restaurant - sometimes he indulges me and wears a big gaudy erring
So there you go folks, that's the man who I asked to marry me this morning. It's been a long time folks, almost a half a century. Lots of ups and downs in our relationship over the years but the only thing that will separate us is the last line in the marriage ceremony when we take the vow Until death do us part."
